Upgrade advice

So excited, just booked a one bedroom suite at the Cosmo for my girlfriends and I for June 2-June 6. I was planning on trying the sandwich trick with a $100 to score a Wraparound or at least a Terrace Suite w/fountain view. My question is since we are arriving fairly early in the day on Saturday should i wait to check-in until the afternoon or is the morning better to score the upgrade?

I say the earlier the better, because theyll usually let you know if something better is available later. Hotel clerks have always given me options like, "we can give you a better view now OR we have a suite that will be available by 3pm".

Definitely earlier cause they know their available inventory for people expecting to checkout. If you wait later all upgrades could get booked. The only downside to this is that you may have to check your bags and wait a few hrs for your suite to be ready.
