I've even been clubbing at top tier places in the capitals of Europe - and my shoes were never a big deal. I wear respectable-enough looking sneakers - and I like to hit up the dance floor.

I appreciate looking debonair as much as the next guy, but I fail to see how wearing a lot of the recommendations I've seen in the pages here are good for dancing, especially if you're in the middle of a dance floor and some chump steps on your feet, or spills a drink on your kicks.

From what I'm gauging here, sneakers will not be let into clubs...but I'm expected to walk out onto the dance floor in uncomfortable shoes that are going to get stepped on? Someone help me out here.
You might be able to get away with cowboy boots in Vegas if they are leather, not too pointed, and your jeans cover most of them

How shitty are the dress shoes you buy dude? If you know how to buy shoes that fit you, dress shoes can be plenty comfortable. I've worn my Allen Edmonds for 12 hours straight, including several hours of dancing, and never once thought "man I just wish I had sneakers on."

If someone spills a drink or steps on them... Who cares? They are leather, just get them polished again. Again, I don't see how sneakers are any better for being stepped on or having drinks spilled on you.
