I'm really interested to see how this works out. I love now having the option of Uber in Vegas.

Comparing Uber's estimates and taxi estimates from TaxiFareFinder and it's looking like it's going to be moderately to significantly cheaper, at least if they don't have surge pricing running. I'm just excited that finally you can have reliable taxi service from under-served hotels like Palms Place or Tuscany Suites.

i think it's just gonna give us a ton more traffic now. all the locals know about the back roads so now they aren't gonna be as clear as usual. hope im wrong though

That was what I was thinking. More cars on the road, no matter how you slice it, equals more traffic and congestion. I was also wondering about pickup points. Will they be allowed to pickup from hotels, stop on the street or what? Even with all of that, I am thrilled that Uber is now an option.

Realistically in the long run it will be fewer cars on the road. Las Vegas is the perfect city for Uber's uberPOOL and Lyft's Line services. Most cab lines are filled with people who are going to the same hotels or the airport. Many people would share taxis to save time and money but there is no way to know who is going where beforehand, but these apps do all that hard work of that matching and should drastically reduce the number of cars needed to move people at peak times.

This is exciting news. I look forward to seeing what people think this weekend. I will be in Vegas next Thursday and I love the idea of having options.
