    interesting story out of UK

Interesting read. I think it speaks to some of the topics discussed on the board about over saturation and what the next is for the music industry and the LV club scene as a whole.

People are so connected nowadays, they almost are gravitating more towards those experiences with a personal touch and being to interact with other people.

This is stupid. I've been going to nightclubs for over a decade and have no intention of stopping.

Maybe these Millennials "are no longer going" because they have wives/husbands/kids.

It's interesting since that article essentially argues that Vegas is here to stay while your local nightclub in the UK might be running into problems. Makes a lot of sense since I've been seeing a lot of questions from UK visitors recently who seem to be flocking to Vegas for once a year style experiences. It'd be interesting to hear from some of the coming UK visitors and whether or not they are choosing to forgo their local scene to save for a bigger experience elsewhere.

"[N]ightclubbing has become for many young people a “couple of times a year” experience, hearing the best DJs on the best sound systems."

Where better to do that than Vegas?

In the big UK cities I would argue the club scene is still pretty lively. However in smaller towns (such as the place I was born) many clubs have closed down which pretty much coincided with the financial crash. It seems the economic problems shifted many peoples mindsets . I now live in London and to be honest, going out to clubs here just does not have the same appeal. The better clubs are all much smaller than Vegas venues, a pain in the arse to get into and generally much more expensive than Vegas as well. We tend to frequent more late night bars (may be a function of getting older) rather than "clubs". There is probably a fine line that is becoming even more blurred. But yeah basically I would much rather go on a boys trip to Vegas for 4 days than go out clubbing every weekend in London.

Here in Newcastle UK it may be because im getting into my 30's but i rarely go clubbing anymore and there isnt really any nightclubs anymore like there used to be since they brought in 24 hr licensing.

basically before this legislation came into effect we would head into town at about 8pm, go round a few bars then head to a club about 11pm and stay till 2/3 am

now most of the bars we used to go to before the designated nightclub have turned themselves into bar/nightclubs as they dont have to close at midnight. therefore if we go out we now go to a local pub, head to town around half 9 go to our chosen place and stay there till 2/3 am

Hey Omar, I might be moving to London at the end of the year for work. Where do you recommend?

I liked Fabric and The Egg last time I was in town (~5 years ago)

If you are neither, then sit back, let the rich and/or good looking people sort their shit out, and then take their scraps. Booking early is not going to get you ahead of the rich and/or good looking people. Sucks unless you are rich or good looking. But that's what makes Vegas so great. It is completely transparent."

Fabric is still awesome. Egg is still decent.

Ministry of Sound is worth checking out, XOYO is amazing, studio338 is good in the summer as it's part outdoors but I dunno what the plan will be in the winter... Electric Brixton and Fire/Lightbox are good depending on the lineup.

You have plenty to choose from!

I agree and know for a fact nightclubs (and even more specifically, mega clubs) are on a rapid decline. I can't speak to what's happening in the UK, but that is definitely the case in the US. Las Vegas is probably the only city in which the club industry is still growing (though I do believe it has reached a plateau). In most major cities the club scene is not as strong/profitable as it was say 10+ years ago. People are now interested in more "personal" experiences and also since there are music festivals almost every (or every other) weekend music fixes can be gathered elsewhere.

I have seen that bicep is doing like 12 weeks at XOYO

                      That would be immense

clubs in the uk who play top 40 and dont have big name djs in the uk are in decline, however in the uk house music such as deep house has become so mainstream and pop music like everybody has jumped on the bandwagon, bit like when dubstep first came to mainstream attention. There will always be places that are growing if they cater to a certain sound like techno, only have to look how big warehouse projects has gotten in recent years

Mahiki and Funky Buddha are definitely worth checking out

Avoid any club with a name like Ritzy, Cinderella's, Reflex, or any club that has the name Disco in it (unless your fetish is to be surrounded by 16-20yr old girls who think peroxide blonde hair and tramp stamp tattoos is a fashion statement and boys who buy the latest adidas gazelles and Argos Elizabeth Duke earrings specifically for a night out "on the town")
