  • Sept 11th - 15th - Advice/Validation!

Guys, heading into Vegas over September 11-15 and looking for some advice/validation. This year we have the situation of a few different groups of guys being there at the same time so whilst that's good from an economies of scale perspective it's also a pain trying to convince the new guys tables are the most effective way! Also difficult to get commitments from guys you don't know so we could have nights where we have anything from 5-9 guys.

Anyway my current thinking is as follows trying to factor in the best value vs table location combo. Note it's Mexican independence day weekend and mayweather is fighting a bum so that's dictating some of my thinking. Budget is around $500 pp although Omnia may be slightly over.

    Friday 11th Sept
Marquee - DJ Vice - Tier 2 (upper dancefloor table)

    Saturday 12th Sept
Hyde - Unknown - Prime spot / in front of the DJ booth (depending on numbers)

    Sunday 13th Sept
    Omnia - Chuckie - Front Balcony / Tier 3

    Monday 14th Sept
XS - Lil Jon - Backwall most likely (depending on numbers)

    Few questions:
    • How does that look as an itinerary?
    • What is Marquee like with Vice spinning? Is it still a "hot" club? The talent at Marquee appears to be focussed less on big name DJs these days but Vice is a good open format DJ from recollection.
    • Any views on the front balcony vs tier 3? Any significant issues wit a tier 3 table? Mins on a Sunday are still quite high.
    • What are Chuckie and Lil Jon like as a DJs?
    • Any other suggestions?

I'd say skip it due to the fight, but I know that's not necessarily an attractive option. Pretty much everyone on here who was in town for the last Mayweather fight seemed to regret the choice to go. Lots of people were complaining about increased hotel and table costs along with restrictions on presale tickets. Then there were complaints of off ratios and general assholeness of the crowd.

If you are having a hard time convincing people that bottle service is the way to go you could compromise by doing presale for David Guetta at Nightswim on Sunday. We went to last year's Mexican Independence Nightswim with David Guetta and it was one of my favorite nights in Vegas. Otherwise I don't have a lot of advice, my last trip included Vice's set at Marquee Dayclub being cancelled due to the fire and Lil Jon canceling last minute, so sadly I don't have personal experience with either of them.

Haha an entertaining trip then! So we are coming from the UK and booked flights and hotels many months ago before we knew Mayweather was fighting. So whilst I'm not particularly pleased about it and the reaction from the previous fight weekend isn't great I've got little choice. I'm hoping given it's not May-Pac it might not be as bad (can only hope)!.

Won't be doing nightswim. Tried it last year and didn't enjoy it anywhere near as much as a normal club or a normal pool. Plus we quite fancy trying XS on a Monday given we've been on Fri-Sun before. Cheers for the input though!

Any thoughts chaps? Keen to hear thoughts on marquee and the itin in general.

Also what is Drais Beach Club like? thinking of doing that with a bottle special on the Sunday given it's a cost effective option!

I prefer Chuckie over Lil Jon as I am more of an EDM guy vs a more open format that Lil Jon has done when I have seen him in the past.

I don't like seeing your itinerary is going to be dependent on numbers. That means in my mind scrambling last minute for something. I would get the quotes locked in, bring it to the group and go from there.

I am more about the dj's than the location and the day clubs have a ton more talent going on that I would go see vs the nightclubs that weekend.

I can give a surprising "thumbs up" to Lil Jon as a DJ. We hadn't planned to see him when we were out over Super Bowl weekend and decided last minute to swing in and catch him at XS. I was expecting a heavy hip hop set, but really was more of a nice mix of hip hop and EDM. And as I am sure you can imagine, he does a great job interacting with the crowd.

As far as the rest of your itinerary goes, it looks like you have put together a decent mix of clubs and by choosing Omnia/XS on slower nights, you will maximize your table budget. Only thing I am not sure about is Hyde on Saturday, I will let someone else chime in that has experience there, but I have heard others say their table mins are higher than other comparable places on a weekend, might be able to get more for your money elsewhere.

This is exactly what I've been working on. Mins and budgets and numbers are now locked in.

ponch62 - Hyde on Saturday is the one thing I'm most sure about! haha. We went last year and it was an epic party - they really do know how to throw it down! Chad arranges a solid spot in front of the DJ for a reasonable min which we thought was great last year.

Only thing left to decide now is pools! Options are either:
              1. Sat - EBC (Guetta) and Sun - Wet (Tiesto) / Drais (Bikini Comp) / MDC (Havanna Brown)
              2. Sat - Wet (Calvin Harris) and Sun - EBS (Avicii)

Calvin Harris is 4k min for a lounge table - is that even worth it?

So EBC now charges a 5% service fee for all bookings (upto a max of $250). Apparently new for this year

Also, what's the deal with split entry. Never had to contend with this in the past but lets say you have a group of 9, 5 guys turn up and then 4 later in the day, will they be ok with entrance?

When we did it in May for EBC they only walked in 6 for the couch and the rest had to do pre sale or guest list.

But did you book the couch for 6 or for more than 6? Did the others turn up after you?

In my experience, whatever number you've agreed on with your host is the number you can get in (if not more assuming your tipping appropriately)...I've booked tables with 12-15 and gone with half the group at 12 and the other half coming later around 2 and it has never been an issue...but if you anticipate this in advance I would just clear it with your host.
