Update: My cc company asked for proof from the bank in the states and they got the correct information back, so they gave me the money back. I'm both surprised and happy that it worked out!

Actually, it only takes one drink to get me loaded. Trouble is, I can't remember if it's the thirteenth or fourteenth.
A good friend would bail you out of jail, but your best friend would be the one sitting next to you saying, "damn that was awesome".
I live for the nights I can't remember with the people I'll never forget.

Even more reason I'll side with Nix and always over-tip. I've never had this happen, but I have enjoyed a lot of free drinks. Glad it worked out though.Like all great travelers, I've seen more than I remember, and remember more than I have seen.

Why dont places get machines where a tip needs to be entered at the final transaction instead leaving a tip to be filled out on the recipt? There will always be a problem with that setup.Originally posted by empire55 View PostIs this really the first you guys are hearing about such bartender "scams"?
It's SUPER common, all over the world, since the concept of credit cards came around. Bartenders usually target drunk people and change their tip amounts. That added tip then goes to their pockets. Chances are, the drunk people will never question the bill later because they won't remember much.
I don't think it has to do with the tip amount. It's mostly idiot bartenders and drunk people. I say idiot bartenders because they'll get away with it for some time, and almost always get caught eventually.
I invest in nightclubs in NYC, CA, and Dubai. In all our locations, this is a very common issue we keep running into. And our guys investigate this very quickly and get to the bottom of it. A few reviews like this could hurt an establishment more than you'd think.

Could have been an honest mistake.
Dispute the charge via your credit card company. They have employees who's only job is charge disputes.Las Vegas Trips
