Interesting observations from a bottle service newbie

Just came back from Vegas and observed some interesting facts about bottle service/pool party cabanas/daybeds etc. Would welcome your input and comments.

1. location is actually very important - couch or daybed near the pool is probably a must. Cabanas are very cool, private and nice, but a bit away from the action.

2. You will exceed your minimum spend by about 1.5x unless you have amazing discipline.

3. Have the server ok orders thru one or 2 people. Everyone ordering drinks can get out of hand.

4. If your host can offer you bottle specials, that is much better than a lower minimum. ie. tryst $550 for 2 bottles of goose.

5. On Thursday, we got a prime couch at Tao for a $100 minimum. Pool scene was still pretty decent.

6. Bigger isn't always better. Smaller pools have good ambience and opportunity for conversation. Larger parties (ie. wet republic) have good mega party atmostphere, but not necessarily more fun.

7. Plan in advance. On the spot usually means no deals.

Questions:

1. Do any clubs offer a discount on the entire bill? Like 20 or 30 percent off the entire bill?

2. Do any day clubs/pool parties offer a bottle specials?

Any other tips to maximize your dollar at clubs or pools?

1. I haven't really ever heard of anyone offering a big discount on the entire bill. Only really bottle specials, lower minimums or no minimum. At most clubs now you can kind of forgo gratuity if you want to and that's like a discount haha.

2. You should be able to get dayclub bottle specials (if you know the host or tip well) on off days. I highly doubt any of the big clubs (besides say Liquid or TAO) will offer specials on big days as dayclubs are incredibly popular.

3. I would definitely try and use the Get Connected section. It's not really as intuitive as it could be and you have to rely on trust a lot/forum messaging but most times it should result in added group members with = bigger spends and better tables.

4. Order 1 bottle at a time. Tell the waitress to bring them 1 at a time so you don't burn through them right away.

5. Personally I prefer to pour my own drinks. I don't like someone else pouring them as they usually don't have the groups best interests in mind. This way I can give the people who paid the most the best drinks and monitor what girls get what.

6. If you have to get to the table early, grab some beers instead of a bottle for the first hour. You can sip on the beer and wait for the club to fill. When it hits 11-11:30 grab that bottle. Get the next one at 12-12:30 and final ones when headliner comes on. Efficiency is key.

I once had my Omnia bill reduced by 20% at the end of the night (the club paid the tip basically). But my bill was over $50k and I had tipped my host incredibly well.

Its pretty hard to change the tip. Basically they have two boxes, either 20% or 25% tip. Also large groups are auto-grat. Maybe you could adjust the tip down to 15%, but pretty hard to do no tip.

I didn't see any day-club deals at Tao or Wet. I'd love to see a bottle deal like Tryst for a day club (2 goose for 550ish)

Always weary of people no-showing. Plans in Vegas change on a dime. Overdrinking is usually the cause.

Very smart. The club's sole purpose is to have you finish your drinks asap. If you calculate the tax and tip, basically these are probably the most expensive drinks in the country. Even a fancy Manhattan hotel bar would have a tough time charging you about 25 dollars for a shot of vodka ($18 + tax tip = $25) One guy has to be the hardliner and know where to cut off things. Unless you are blowing 10K a night, then it doesn't really matter.
