It's going to be crazy what this one will look like. Omnia as it is, is pretty insane. The last time I was in Vegas, I saw Sultan + Ned Shepard at Omnia, and when I first got there, I probably spent a good 30 minutes just walking around and being awe-struck about how much went into that club.

That is a huge move. Jesse probably has the best relationships with talent in the city. Very curious to see what happens with Wynncore programming in 2016.
While that is prob true, that Jesse has the best contacts, I'm sure many of the people working for and around him have built up solid relationships within that past couple years, as EDM has grown in LV since about 2011. I'm sure it will hurt Wynncore some, but that machine will just keep churning along.
I'm excited to see another epic venue opening, saturation be damned.
I agree, artists will follow the money. Times change, Steve Wynn made a good chunk of his fortune through loyalty/contacts/relationships but in my opinion I don't feel that is as prevalent in the business world today.
always cool to see new development happening. I remember talking about when they closed pure and this Omnia thing was going to be the next "it," or even further back when they closed Jet (my fav Vegas club ever) to remodel it into 1oak. Interested to see where they go with this new club design-wise.
Where doe people think the industry is going in terms of type of music being produced for venues, the setup of the venue (most seem to be more of a concert type feel with dj booth as main attraction), and extras. I'd be curious to see how the EDM and club world evolves in the next couple of years.
Omnia seems to be the pinnacle of what can be accomplished on this platform and I'll be interested to see if there is a slight shift to do something a little different.
alon vegas is probably 3 years out http://www.fox5vegas.com/story/29413...h-strip-resort
1,100 rooms- two towers- One building is called the “VIP Tower” and the other taller building is called the “Resort Tower.”
A lot smaller then Wynn with around 5,000 rooms and mgm with around 6700, sands with around 7,000.
Whatever nightclub they open is going to have to have a massive, massive external draw to compete against the juggernauts with only 1100 rooms on property. Industry analysts when discussing Cosmo's lackluster financial history often cite the problem of it being a "small" hotel room-wise and it has nearly 3k rooms.
Im sure most tourist only go to a club 1 night of their stay, and they just settle for the club in their hotel. Most tourist go to experience Vegas as a whole, gamble, shows, ect. There not nightlife fanatics like us, so the hotels success will really effect the clubs success.
On the forum, Id say Light prob got better reviews than Hak, but Hak has been more successful. Even Drais is probably only considered Tier 2, and I cant think of 1 person that has mentioned staying at Cromwell.

There is a definite shift taking place in the electronic scene as far as sound goes, the sound is moving more towards the deeper end (actual house, future house, techno, whatever you want to call it) in some areas (Calvin's latest single for example) and away from the big room anthem sound. Some friends just returned from Tomorrowland and commented how the only true big room only act on the main stage was DV and LM. There is also the proliferation of cross genre type sets similar to the likes of Diplo that I've seen at a few festivals all.
I've made this post before on another thread but there is nothing sexy or fun about the big room/anthem after anthem sound anymore. I personally don't enjoy going to what basically amounts to a concert at a club. Interaction all but dies once the main act goes on and once the act goes on they hardly play with any subtlety or nuance, much less actually reading the crowd and adjusting to the vibe of the crowd. You can't dance with or talk to a girl jumping and screaming to Blame It On Me for the hundredth time. Sundown at Dayligt has done a good job of adjusting programming but it will take one of the bigger clubs moving that way to mark a true shift. To your point on Omnia, I think they will be the catalyst with baby house acts like Tchami and Heldens.
I would agree with your assessment of the direction. It seems there is a trend towards more diversification in the edm world, instead of just the big state/concert style music being played ie more trap/edm, heaven trap (more of a mix between current hip hop/r&b and edm notes/tones mixed in).
I'd also say the industry has reached a saturation point with that type of big concert music and people are starting to prefer music where they can still interact with other guests at the club. I definitely agree that it is very hard to interact and communicate with people at the large clubs when the main dj is on. Don't get me wrong, I love the energy, however I really enjoy talking to people and sometime that is quite difficult with everyone just jumping around.
To your point about Omnia being the club to transition into something different, I'd say they are more open to booking different types of dj's, however the venue is not quite as conducive to that type of vibe, given the layout and the large dance floor. I'd think some of the other clubs might have a better setup to do that such as XS, Marquee, or even Drai's. It seems Omnia and Hak and setup for more of the big concert type sound. Although I could be wrong in that assessment.
Overall, I enjoy the changing landscape of the music. It will be fun to see how things evolve the next 2 years.
