Good bar scene?

Hey guys,

So I'm your typical vegas visitor that loves the clubs etc, but Im meeting a large group in late august that is mostly older gentleman. There's no way they will do bottles/tables at a club as they just aren't that type. so I have a few questions;

1) I've always felt with out bottle service that clubs are almost a waste of time. Do you agree? If you disagree would the best move be to contact a promoter ahead of time and get in that way vs waiting in line (I assume yes). If yes, what's the going rate for a contacting ahead of time and doing it that way at a tier 1.

2) If we don't get to any clubs, what are the best bars around the strip. Good crowds, good muscis, etc

A couple of us younger folk may break off from the group and do our own thing so I'm just trying to get a feel for the best approach.

I have always enjoyed the following 2 bars/lounges which have always had more of a laid back chill vibe to them:

Lily Bar & Lounge: inside the Bellagio Resort & Casino

1) Depends what you like to do at the club. Personally, after a few drinks, I love getting up, moving around and going to the dance floor, so for me, I'd still greatly enjoy the club without a table. However, if you prefer a place to sit/have a home base, or if you have a pretty big group of guys, then table's the way to go.

2) I thought Centrifuge @ MGM was interesting, but really laid-back. Cosmo Chandelier Bar is pretty laid-back as well. Eye Candy Sound Lounge in Mandalay was pretty packed and busy when I passed by to get to Light.

Check out the bars/lounges in the Cosmopolitan (not the club, which is Marquee). They all serve a nice cocktail, and always (at least on weekends) have a lively atmosphere and great people watching.

Carnival Court outside of Harrah's can also be a fun time. It is an energetic (maybe rowdy) bar with the bartenders doing flare, pouring shots out of bottles into people's mouths, and mostly top 40 and other pop music (not EDM).

I would suggest trying to talk the group into doing a table at a club one night. To ease them into it, get an outdoor table. The Omnia terrace would be my #1 choice based only on photos and what I've heard about it, but other options are XS, Marquee, Drais, Surrender and Tryst (in approximate order of most to least expensive). The clubs are never quite as crowded outside as they are inside (although they can get crowded, still) and the music and lights aren't as intense. Table minimums also get lower the further away you go from the DJ/dancefloor, so if your group actually wants to minimize the foot traffic nearby but still wants to enjoy some drinks and people watching in a nice setting, you can probably get a (relatively) good deal.
