  • Couple of questions - July 16-20

Long-time lurker, first-time poster here. Me and a buddy are coming in from the East Coast for a hopefully wild weekend. We're in our upper 30s, usually come to Vegas for March Madness and definitely more into hip-hop than EDM, though that wouldn't necessarily stop us from having a good time.

Thursday night we're planning to go to the Jurassic 5 show at Brooklyn Bowl. Friday we'd like to try to the pool scene, but not necessarily get a table. Any suggestions for the best GA/pre-sale day party? We're comped at Caesar's so we don't have a good home pool.

Saturday we're looking to do a table, but is it worth it for 2 guys? I've been looking at 1OAK, and while I know that's not the hottest spot, it seems to be the No. 1 location for hip-hop. Should we consider Ling-Ling at Hakk?

Thanks to all you Vegas daylife/nightlife vets for your advice.

    welcome
would do hakkasan calvin harris presale thursday night- so you can check the place out-
nightclubs open around 11pm with headline dj on around 1am going till around 5am
so you will be good after your concert
For Friday night I would do omnia calvin harris presale.
Both hakkasan and omnia are huge and have hip hop rooms and calvin harris is huge so both will draw big crowds.
    Then your choice saturday.

I wouldn't pay Calvin Harris GA just to go hang out in Heart - that would be ridiculous.

For Saturday night, DJ Ruckus is good for hip-hop so Ling-Ling room is definitely an option. You could also consider something more open format, like Hyde.

Friday dayclub is a bit more difficult to call b/c the crowds tend to be soft and the DJ lineup isn't that great that Friday. Maybe Tommy Trash at EBC? Not sure what type of music they play at Wet for the weekly bikini contest; if it's hip-hop, that might work out well for you.

You may want to look at Drais on Sunday night the 19th as it is Bigroom hip hop that night with DJ Franzen.

1OAK left a bad taste in my mouth last time I was there, SO many prostitutes dick grabbing all over the place! But the music was great, loads of bass (I really like their sound setup) so it was a great hip hop night music-wise. Hopefully someone else can chime in with a more positive experience.

If you're staying at Caesar's I would recommend EBC as a pool spot for Friday. Although you will read Fridays can be hit or miss, I always go in July and I've never been to a pool party that wasn't packed. In my opinion it's a good month for people being out in the heat. But EBC is close to your home base and has very favourable odds of being busy on a Friday if you are worried.

Table service for 2 will be tricky as since it works on minimum spends, as a twosome you'll have to split a lot each to get a decent location. Depending on where you go there are bad locations, and you need to spend a bit to get better ones. I've had those experiences where you're just too far from the action and I end up not spending any time at my table anyway so it ended up being a poor value. If you're open to it, see if you can link up with other groups on the forum and go in on something together - more people, more purchasing power.

Despite the edm craze hip hop is still around! As mentioned Hakkasan, Omnia, Drais all have hip hop selection as well as 1oak. Actually come to think of it my favourite thing about 1oak was how chill the vibe was from security, people were smoking joints all over the place and no one blinked over it. it was a good vibe, just too many damn prostitutes but maybe I just had a bullseye on my face who knows.

Joey left LV last fall and is now in Florida.

Deciding between EBC and Drais Beach for Friday - which option has the least amount of hassle/wait for pre-sale tickets? Thanks!

EastCoast: "I will preach. Vegas is easy. So easy. Either be rich or good looking (or mooch off someone who is one of those). If you are neither, then sit back, let the rich and/or good looking people sort their shit out, and then take their scraps. Booking early is not going to get you ahead of the rich and/or good looking people. Sucks unless you are rich or good looking. But that's what makes Vegas so great. It is completely transparent."
