  • How much to tip host?

    Hi guys
I'm travelling to Vegas in June and my host is organising bottle service at 4 different locations.
    2 questions,

1 how much should I tip this guy? Top guy and is very flexible.

2 in my Vegas experiences, another host usually meets you at the venue and takes you to your table. How much should you tip this guy unless my guy specifies an amount?

    Any advice would be appreciated.

    1. It's entirely up to you.
    2. Tip your host unless he tells you otherwise.

It is entirely up to you how much you tip. If I were your host, and walked you in to each venue, and negotiated a good table & min, I'd like to get at least $50-100 per venue. If that's more than you can afford, just tip what you can, be polite and thankful, and recommend them to friends. Oh...and it's perfectly acceptable to discuss the tip with them before hand. I'm a fan of having all the cards on the table up front. Everyone knows exactly what to expect out of the transaction.
Like all great travelers, I've seen more than I remember, and remember more than I have seen.

Is it true that hosts at XS don't make anything off your table spend?

$225/venue is a great tip. Have you talked min spend and table location with him?

I haven't asked recently...but as I recall they don't earn commissions on table spend.

Tipping is showing your gratitude for their help, however it is also part of the negotiation. Open a dialogue with your host about how much you're willing to tip and what type of location/min spend that gets you. then you can discuss back and forth different options. Be upfront with what your tipping so they can help you out as much as possible.

Regarding the $1000 tip. If it's for 4 clubs, thats a very fair tip as long as your getting locations that are up to your expectations.

Keep in mind your host is already getting a cut of your bookings. If your host is solely making bookings and isn't walking you into the club himself, then I wouldn't tip him anything (and he probably is not, since he hasn't already told you that he is).

If your host isn't walking you into the club, make sure you get the name and number of the club host that he organized with, and make sure you know exactly what type of table was booked. Furthermore, I'll disagree with what others have said - if you wind up at a table of a higher tier (and that you like more) than the one that was booked, or at the best table of the tier that was booked, then I would consider tipping the club host that your host organized with (again, not necessarily the one that happens to walk you in).

Yes. But they will state the expected (and required) handshake when making the booking, and IME this far exceeds what a host at any other club would typically make off me in terms of commission and tip anyway. So I would never tip an XS host.

I'm assuming since he's saying that the XS host will tell you the required handshake amount that you shouldn't/no need to be tipping voluntary anything beyond that......
