  • Quick question re: autograt & tipping

    Hey guys

As it will be my first time in Vegas I just wanted to clarify etiquette when it comes to tipping.

My understanding is that if you have arranged bottle service through a host it is expected that they are tipped upon arrival. Also that the security and runner at your table are taken care of.

    My questions are:

    - do you still tip the waitress even though they charge autograt?
    - how much is an acceptable 'handshake' to the host on a $5k table?
    - how much goes to the security and runner?

    Thanks in advance,

I wouldn't tip the waitress extra. she's already getting 1k off your 5k table.
host tip is always up to you. it is always appreciated but never expected unless it was previously arranged.
I would tip 20-50 to security and runner.

      I'll echo was DeX says.

I wouldn't tip the waitress anything extra. For security and runner - I personally start off with $20 for each when I first meet them at the beginning of the night. I will then tip them more throughout the night as I use more of their services (example - if someone knocks over a glass, i'll throw the runner another $20. If we ask the security to watch our table while we make a walk around the club, throw him another $20, etc)
And as far as host tip, in advance you may want to discuss location with your host, any bottle specials, etc. If so or if you are getting a "deal" (example - lower min for a table than normal due to expected host tip) you work that out with the host.
Personally I like to tip $100 a bottle with the intention of building a solid relationship with the host for future visits. However that would top out at a few hundred for me when you are talking $5k mins

        Thanks for the quick replies.

I really appreciate it as in the UK tipping isn't the same as in the States and I certainly don't want to offend anyone.

        Thanks again guys.

In my experience, they also don't expect anything beyond the auto-grat (or just a written-in 20%, in the case of XS).

the handshake should be discussed with your host before you get there
