  • Help this newbie out! Please :)

    Hello everyone!
Hello I am new member to this forum and I am very excited to join this community.
I'm going to be in Vegas April 17th-20th

Celebrating my girlfriend and her best friend 21st birthday. I want to make it an incredible one.

This will be my first time going clubbing so I am new to all this. We will most like be going out Sunday night since her friend doesn't turn 21 till Sunday.

If I want to get a bottle service how does that work, should I call the club directly or get in touch with a promoter that someone can recommend? I saw that at the hakkasan Steve Aoki will perform that Sunday night . On the website it says to purchase tickets if we decide to go there should we all get our tickets or call someone to do the whole bottle service with the ticket. I'm sorry you guys I'm just all new to this. We are going to be a group of of 8-10 people not sure yet. Also how much will the cost be and is there any other clubs you guys recommend with good prices for the whole bottle service to celebrate a 21st bday on a Sunday night. I'm really interested on hearing feedback on hakkasan. Thank you guys in advance!

Firstly, if you are going to arrange bottle service, then you don't also need to buy presale tickets. But if you won't be getting bottle service, then I suggest you do buy tickets because entry will be quicker and easier, especially with a group of your size.

Best options for Sunday are Hakkasan (Aoki), XS (DJ Snake), Drais and Life.

You can probably get bottle specials at all those venues on Sunday, except maybe for Hakkasan.
XS does goose/moet or 2 goose specials - I can't remember what current pricing is.
Drais has 2 goose for 600.

Remember you need to add roughly 30-40% at night clubs due to various taxes. Plus there are host, server, busboy and security tips to think about.

I would start by getting in touch with Noah Ortiz from these forums and he can walk you through it. He has sorted me out before in Vegas and can be contacted on:

Have you thought about going out Saturday night, but after midnight (because then it's technically Sunday for the birthday girl!)?

If you are neither, then sit back, let the rich and/or good looking people sort their shit out, and then take their scraps. Booking early is not going to get you ahead of the rich and/or good looking people. Sucks unless you are rich or good looking. But that's what makes Vegas so great. It is completely transparent."

Best advice ever, doesn't make a lotta sense in cities where that bars close at 1am, but in Vegas, the party doesn't really get going until 1am!

Hey man thanks so much for replying!

This is the exact advice I wanted. The reason about not Saturday night it's because I read that you are supposed to get to the venue early. Let say we get bottle service and I don't know if this is how it works but when we get to the door and it's not midnight yet, will they still let her in?

I would stick with your Sunday bottle service plan. It is cheaper and less stressful dealing with the stroke of midnight issue. Large sections of the club is likely closed so you will get a better spot for the spend and Aoki will still put on a great party. HK is a table-must if you are not rolling single in my opinion so you are off to a good start.

I am also curious how the bouncers would react to a 21 showing up minutes after being legal. Right wrong or indifferent, I seem to have stuck in my mind a story about a friend being denied (not in Las Vegas) entry right after 12am because the "books"/cash register still carried the date of Saturday, hence it still wasn't legal to be in the club.

That said, don't limit the party on Saturday night - just don't plan the bottles. I would play Sunday AM by ear and not get tied down. Maybe hit carnival court or one of the more lively bars around the center part of the strip. Have your friend toss some dice at 12am. Or better yet, fancy it up and hit the Chandelier Bar at Cosmo. Then bounce over to Drais Afterhours (DA).

Since DA it doesn't open till 1am anyway I am sure you would be 100% safe. Plus, you won't be so wasted that you will actually remember DA (not that, um . . . I have had that problem). There are solid contacts on this board for Drais Afterhours and it is a good party.

First, we have all heard this before. Second, you don't have to do bottle service to go clubbing, it just makes for a better experience. Third, if i could go all-in for $214 a person at tier 1 clubs I would get a table every night of the week and twice on Sunday. Go without a table this trip and let people pay $20 a drink at the bar, stand around and listen to everyone in your group ask you why you didnt get them a table. Everyone will be in on the table next trip.

$214 a head for Tier 1 would be glorious.

Anything under $300 I jump on right away.

You will severely limit your maximum fun potential if you do not fork over the cash to get a table. Chances are you are not the kind that enjoys an experience similar to riding a jam packed Japanese subway fleeing from Godzilla.

NO need for a dance floor when you have your own real estate.

Ticket + drinks in a club easily comes to $140-200 for me (especially with shots) so why not dump a few extra and get the best experience possible.

You can counter the money argument multiple ways.

Math is the easy 1 as everyone has shown already.

Here's another angle. Discuss her lack of comfort. The girls will be dressed to impress the "problem" they will have....There will be no place to sit down, drop off her bag, take her shoes off for a few minutes and relax. She'll have to wait on potentially some long lines to go into the bathroom, tip to bouncer will remove that problem, they will have to wait around a crowded bar to try to get the attention of a bartender to get drinks, battle through that crowd back to their spot on the floor hopefully. Unless you'll be the one doing all of the drink ordering and carrying.

Look I was that guy once. The $$$ made no sense...the first time. But when you have real estate and the ability to have an epic night for a few extra bucks, you do it!!

Technically it is $600 for TWO bottles and I bet their wholesale price is like $20

The way to sell tables to girls is foot-rest. They can wear their ridiculous heels and have a place to sit and a place for their purse. Go with the real estate angle. If you can't get a HK deal and the group is complaining about money, then by all means chase the deals - the Drais deal is great and so is the XS Sunday special.

From a cost perspective we have all sold the experience to our friends and this forum is littered with ways to explain it. Here is one more attempt. 1L = about 22 shots. At bar prices with tips it is about $300. Personally if I am just going to the bar I can easily blow through $100 (~6 drinks) over the three to four hours I am in the club. The remainder of the bill is tied up in the "experience" which includes the headline DJ, the special effects of the club, top level service, no lines and cover.

Cover is usually $50+ for guys and can climb to over $100. Girls from about $20 to $60. Then there are lines to get in and lines at the bar and no place to sit.

All this to say if you just roll on an individual tab you are probably looking at $150 to $200 for guys and $100 to $150 for girls with cover and drinks. Is it really that much harder to add in another $100 to increase the total experience?

One way I have pitched it before is like going to see a show. Nobody blinks at dropping $50-$150 to see a variety or Cirque show. Well, you go to those to see live entertainment, be entertained and experience something you can't back home. A club isn't all that different in that respect. (I love both so it just becomes a double punch in the wallet).

Good luck, we have all had "the talk."

Used almost this exact pitch recently, but added in the fact that your $150 show ticket doesn't include your drinks!
