  • Getting on the guest list: how late can I leave it?

I'll be in Vegas this coming week... Sunday to Wednedsay. Don't know what we'll be in the mood for. Is it possible to get in touch with a host and get on the guest list the day of? If so, how late before there's a cut off?

Related: How easy will it be to get into the clubs without paying a cover? I figure mid-week, early arrival should be easy enough at some locations? And finally, if I get in without paying a cover, how much should I tip the host per person (1 male, 2 females).

Guest listing is usually done by promoters not hosts (more explained below), usually the cut off is the day before at 6pm so I wouldn't try day of if you can make up your mind before that, Sunday-Wednesday you should be able to get into literally every club event for free except maybe Drai's Yacht Club, tipping won't be necessary but could be possible.

    I would recommend:
    Sunday: XS Nightswim (free)
    Monday: XS (free)
Tuesday: Drai's Yacht Club (not too expensive, new, and pretty awesome)
    Wednesday: Light (free)

Again you might want to look at the DJs if you have particular music tastes but 9/10 times that list will be the right call for the largest party atmosphere and the best DJ.

    Guest lists:
A name is put on a guest list by a promoter who either works directly or indirectly for a club. Typically this is arranged by text message and very often you will never meet the person who put you on the list. Sometimes a promoter will give your name and info to a different promoter if you want to go to a club they don't work for, especially if you are reliable in showing up. A guest list usually has a special line where even or better ratios of girls/guys get into a club free or for the guys sometimes at a reduced price.

Sometimes these lines are short and quick, sometimes they are long and take awhile, and other times they are totally ignored (bad experience at Hyde once). Tier 1 clubs usually only offer these Sunday - Thursday for mixed groups and most non-special event days for girls. Tier 2 or 3 clubs often offer this service throughout the entire week for even of better ratios. Promoters never expect tips, but if you have one who has been reliable and you want to tip them and you actually meet them then tipping them is great, although I've seen some who actually refused a tip and would rather you write a good review somewhere.

    Walk-ins:
A host actually walks a group into the club. Typically this is arranged by text message and then you meet the person outside the club near the entrance. A walk-in usually costs the GA price + $20+ per person depending on how crowded the place is.

This is usually one of the fastest ways into most clubs except for bottle service. The host you contact will give the pricing and if you want to tip them over that amount it is appreciated. Essentially they get most of if not all of the cost above the GA price so if they charge a lot for a slower night you could tip less but if they charge a minimal amount for an extremely busy night tipping more is definitely the way to go since they did you a favor and potentially saved you an hour or 2 of waiting.

    Vip 4 Free:
A mix of both guest list and abnormally free walk-ins. You should tip the limo driver ~$5 per person, especially if they are on time. When guest listed there likely won't be someone to tip. When being walked in, especially if the awesome guy comes out just for your group quickly, I totally suggest tipping well since really this service is the best thing in town.

Thanks. You were spot on with the guest list. Just got on for a couple of lists this week.
