  • Wedding after party

    Hi,

Trying to decide what the best thing to do after our wedding with a mixed group of about 30 of us. It will be a Weds night in October.

We've been quoted $1,500 minimum spend + 2 free bottles at Chateau which sounds like a good deal. I want somewhere that is a fun atmosphere, not too EDM led (more R&B, Top 40 etc), not too full of posers etc.

Was thinking of going to a lounge/bar etc for straight after the party (at 10pm) so the older people could come, then heading to Chateau for about midnight. Or we could stay in a lounge/bar, but I'm not sure which would be the best places to go that are open late and play the music we want!

Just want to make sure everyone has a good night!!

    Any advice much appreciated, thanks!

Don't know if the posers thing really applies to vegas.

You will get almost the same exact crowd at every club except a small percentage.

How many people did you tell the Chateau host (did you go through a JC approved one?) you would have? 30 is a ton and I dont know if a 1500 min table will support even half that.

Yeah the first thing that went off in my mind was the "too good to be true" alarm. I recently read a trip report with someone being quoted something at Chateau I even think it involved some sort of free bottle and then when the group showed up Chateau magically had no record of that quote and wanted lots more money. While that deal isn't impossible, it seems highly improbable, so I would see if I could get it in writing before relying on that for something having to do with my wedding and even then I would likely still worry.

First off, are the 30 people the number of people going to the club or the number of people going to the bar? If it's 30 people going to the club having bottle service for all of them isn't easy to set up and is typically too expensive to justify. Usually a club will require a minimum spend around $500 per 4 guests, again that can vary a bit, and a Wednesday isn't the strongest night, but $1.5k with 2 free bottles and 30 people entering is pretty far for $500 per 4 guests. Typically clubs have seating that can accommodate 4, 6, 8, maybe 12 people but with 30 your group will likely be somewhat separated anyway.

Assuming the 30 people is the group going to the club if you have more than 30 people showing up to a bar or lounge, that can get pretty hectic so you might want to have a more solid idea of how many people that will be and perhaps call ahead to the bar you are thinking of going to. Most Vegas bars aren't super large so 30+ extra people showing up might even warrant them scheduling an extra bartender.

On a totally different note, having corralled large groups previously, I kind of doubt you want to be responsible for moving 30 people from a bar to a club and getting them inside on your wedding night. Usually anyone who shows up later than whoever booked the bottle service has a hard time entering the club, so getting 30 people there at exactly the same time is very difficult, especially if they've already been drinking at a bar. I would suggest either skipping the club and just going to an awesome bar, taking a smaller group to the club (~12 people), or going to the club but not using bottle service to get everyone inside (some bottle service, some guest listing, anyone who shows up too late for guest list does GA).

Ok, I'm kinda thinking outside the box here. How about Hofbrauhaus? They seem way better designed for a very large group, it's loud and rowdy, and drinking/or being drunk is encouraged. Lots if good beer, snack on appetizers. Or maybe meeting at a larger hotel lobby bar (where are you staying, where is the wedding at) and getting the group to head out to Fremont street? Same concept; large drunk group and nobody cares. Like Max said above, getting a huge group to move or meet somewhere when they've been drinking ( they WILL be during the wedding) is a nightmare. I wouldn't risk the spend and planning for an expensive megaclub.

You could also rent a party bus for dirt cheap and roam the strip then stop at a bar or two.

$160 an hour all-in most places. Bring your own bottles, play music, dance etc. Some of them are suppppeerrrr badass looking outside and in. I always do it.

Biggest concern I would have is moving that sized group around. While the strip is only like 3 miles long- the large crowds and the resort style design of most hotel/casinos make it difficult to move around. Cabs/limos are pricey.
            so think about
            1. if everyone is staying at one hotel and the wedding is at that same hotel find something to do at that same hotel.
            2. because its a weds you can get guestlist= free entry. there is a vipfree guy on these forums who would probably be really happy to pickup a group of 20+ and take you to for example light
            3. in terms of tables- Most of the bigger clubs bottles might run you $600+28% tax/tip on top. You might get bottle specials because of weds. For example ask what the bottle prices are at chateau if they are 600 each you basically paying for two and getting two free but still paying around $500 a bottle $1500+28% tax/tip= $1920.

            4. there is a place called Town Square on the strip- that caters to locals. There is a restaurant/lounge/nightclub called blue martini they are open until 3am and do $150 bottles of Ciroc. But not sure how you get everyone up there. http://www.bluemartinilounge.com/event/9/las-vegas.html

Lounges would definitely be an option. We did the Light Group's lounge deal at Gold last summer with the upgrade to top shelf. They were offering then all you can drink deals for guys and girls until 1 AM or such for wells for a set price also. Music was a lot open format vs clubs.

You can click on the VIP lounge package to view the file. Max of 6 people per deal.

You know what, I've got an even better idea. Have someone go to Albertsons, buy a small bars' worth of alcohol, have the ceremony, go to a fun bar, party it up a bit with the older friends and family, hook up your single people, then head back to your party suite and invite everyone to that. Then you can have a private party for around $1500, maybe significantly less, and do it in style without the headaches of that many people at a club.

This plan does require someone to stay sober enough to keep people sane at the party and usher people out at the end, maybe a cool family member, and maybe another couple people to clean up in the morning, but otherwise you'll get the most bang for your buck by far, especially if that quote was what you were looking to spend.

                Example of party suite:
MGM Grand: Skyline Terrace Suite (Large outdoor patio overlooking Vegas, guest bathroom) $700-1000 on a Wednesday in October
                http://www.mgmgrand.com/hotel/skylin...ace-suite.aspx

If the wedding is at one of the casinos or hotels, I suggest finding the best bar there, and then getting the most appropriate suite for a party, not every casino has something designed for a larger party but many do. This reduces the complexity by far, and should be an awesome time for everyone involved. You don't even need to spend the night at the party suite, you would just need a responsible person to make sure the night ends without havoc, really shouldn't be too much of a worry depending on your friends and family.

The Executive Hospitality Suite at the Aria works very well for this. I've booked it 3 times and had between 15 and 40 people in it before without an issue. Very open and relatively inexpensive (maybe $350 for that day)

In my sig you can see my july video which has footage of it

I've got the skyline booked for my November party but won't have an opinion on that till I am there.

Hi, thanks so much for all your responses.
Yes I went through the host page here for Chateau, I'm in contact with Joey Pintozzi (33 group). I told him 30 people and he quoted me $50 a head for the table etc, so I confirmed via email that it would be a $1,500 minimum spend and he said yes.
The bottle prices at Chateau that Joey sent me was $375 for Sky vodka, $425 for Grey Goose

Just been emailing with Hyde who can get us $3k minimum spend for our group - $1,500 was within our budget, so $3k should be fine, especially as we may have more than 30 if we are going to a lounge all night rather than a club, as the "oldies" can come for a bit.
Anyone been to Hyde on a Wednesday? I know their club nights are Tuesday, Friday, Saturday, but Chad said there would be a DJ and the music is generally open format

3k ends up being about $4k out the door. Maybe 4.2k with tips and a decent shake for the 30.

Did you tell him you had 30 people coming?

                        Sounds fun!

Yes we did - we said nearer 40, but that would be just for the first hour or so - then the group size for the majority of the night would be about 30.
Yeah, we've got the service charge/tax of 28.1% added on and will tip as required.
We're hopefully getting seats near the fountains, which is great as I LOVE them! I think something that was causing me the biggest stress of my wedding has now become the thing I am most excited about!
