  • Help!! Planning 101 for Newbie

I am heading to Vegas in July with my wife for a few business meetings and then madness Thrusday Night thru Sunday Morning. We love Vegas and have been there 3 times previously as a couple. We are big fans of pool parties and the clubs in general. We get after it pretty hard from a drinking perspective, in other words we spend a good amount on booze each night.

In the past we have never done any pre planning and that has killed us by forcing us to wait in lines. I hate the freaking lines!!! I would rather pay an additional cover to avoid the lines but that never seems like an option other than bucking up and grabbing a table which seems foolish given the fact that there are only two of us.

(I know I am going to sound like a tool with some of these questions because I see these references a lot on the forums but frankly I do not know what they mean.)

There are a lot of references to hosts. I get that they are there to book tables but do they help a couple into a club in an expedited fashion. If so how does that work, I get that I tip them but how much? How far in advance should I contact a host to work out details for a particular night?

There are a lot of references to presales, how do those work, if you presale do you get to avoid the line?

When do DJ lineups get announced? I am looking at July 17 - 20th.

Sorry I am asking such remedial questions but all experience is appreciated!!!

Pre-sales are garaunteed tickets for entry, and those lines usually move very quickly. That would be the best bet if you are sure although are going to a certain club that day. Almost all of the clubs have their July schedules up on their websites.

Hosts can set up entry whenever you contact them, and in your case would be best used when you decide last minute where you are going.

I've always tipped the cover + a little extra. They can go out of their way most times to help me out and I dont mind offering up what I can. Builds a good reputation too.

I would contact a host directly and see what they say. Joey Orr hooked my group and I up with a walk in last time I was in Vegas. What he charged me was cover + tip included.

I'm going with my fiancé next month and will probably do the same thing. Just reach out to promotors for walk-ins vs. doing bottle service for just the two of us.
