  • Question: Best Strategy for Admission - The Light & XS in February

Hey guys, had a question --

So I'll be in Vegas February 21st and 22nd for my birthday. Coming with a party of approx. 9 people total, 3 girls/6 guys. I would like to visit The Light on Friday and XS on Saturday. Both nights will have major celebrity DJs performing. I contacted a promoter @ XS and they said I would need an even ratio of guys/girls to get on the guest list. We definitely want to do these clubs on these nights so I'm trying to figure out the best strategy to guarantee admission while minimizing cost and wait time as much as possible. We can't afford to buy a table. So here is my question:

When we went to XS last time, we had a group of four guys. We tipped the bouncer and went in right away. I am cool with doing this again but obviously the downside is it is not guaranteed that it will work. Does anyone know if The Light doormen will be cool with a tip to let us in? I think we did around $100 last time, anyone done this before at The Light and remember how much you spent/how big your group was? Did you do this when a big DJ was playing? I will also mention, we are staying at Mandalay Bay (where the light is at), does anyone know if the concierge can give line passes or help in anyway?

The other option is to put an even ratio of guys and girls on the list, and buy tickets in advance for the extra guys. Like 3 guys and 3 girls on the list, and tickets for the remaining 3 guys. The downside to this is we would have to split up, but this would be okay if the remaining guys were able to get in fairly quickly with tickets. Does anyone know how long the line is usually if you bought tickets in advance versus people just waiting in line at the door without anything? The promoter said there is a ticket holder line but I don't know if that's any different or shorter than people just showing up.

Of course a third option is to grab some girls in the line and try to take them in with us, but this is also not guaranteed.

Any help/Advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks a lot!

I had a buddy with me on 1/1/2014 for Alesso and wanted to get in at like 12:00 AM.

Used Noah and walked right in within 5 minutes of contacting him. I gave him a fair handshake and had an amazing time.

You can contact people here and ask if you pay cover + some if you can roll right in without a hassle.

My personal opinion is my buzz/time/convenience is much more important than the few extra bucks I need to spend to get in. I would pay the cover and add $10 per head, maybe a bit more to try and get in without a wait/hassle. Go big THEN go home.

Usually presales lines is alot faster than any other line. For xs the longest i waited in a presale line was about 10 mins compared to the guestlist. Go with presale it's only 30-50 bucks and you wouldnt have to tip any bouncer and will get in alot faster than guestlist when you have to wait for hours

Thanks for the feedback guys. Kinar100, I love Alesso, saw him at the Shrine in LA, great show!

So just to clarify, are there three lines then? One for ticketed people, one for guest list people and one for everyone else? Since you were saying that even if you are on the guest list you have to wait in line for a long time. Or do people on the guest list wait in the same line as everyone else? I'm just wondering what the advantage to the guest list is, just free admission?

We could easily arrive early, if that would minimize the line situation. Anyone know what time to arrive by for shorter lines?

Honestly, I'm totally fine paying the ticket price, but it's my birthday and I have a bunch of friends with me and I don't wanna obligate them to pay more if there's a better way to do it. But if it comes down to that being the best option then we might do that.

1st- keep in mind headline djs start around 1am
so if you get there at open 10pm- 1030pm you will probably get in super quick but be waiting around 2+ hours for the headliner and the headline dj will probably play for two hours starting at 1am.

If you want to get in free- mess around with the guestlist- even ratio.
Otherwise do presale it looks like a $35 guy ticket.

FYI- you also might be able to get free entry to Hak both nights because Hak doesn't have Calvin booked those days.

Guest list is almost always a waste of time, particularly as a man. I dont know why you're bothering. Guest list isnt some cool line to be in, its usually the slowest moving of them all due to people going up to the hosts and claiming this and that are on the guest list... Inevitable problems. Its a total waste of time. You have to tip anyway so why not just buy pre-sales?

If you get Noah to walk you in you're gonna have to chuck him a couple of hundred to walk in 9 people at least id have thought, and he will be busy with tables on a big night.

Just get round all these problems and pay for tickets mate. Its the quickest, the guaranteed way in. You'll wait no time.

Either that or gamble with guest list, wait around trying to get noticed, go to the front, say youre on the list - turns out you're not, then argue, whinge and whine and end up at the back of the GA queue waiting two hours and ruin your whole night.

Its your birthday, so pay the $35. Its peanuts.

If you plan on using a host for expedited GA entry, do you still buy tickets or do you just pay say $40 dollarsish a person to a host?

Ive used a host 3 times to walk myself and a friend in and each time ive paid the $40 + $20-40 extra per person.

PRESALE PRESALE PRESALE. Can't say it enough. Get there right before midnight and you're good to go. No waiting, no worrying about a guest list, and it's and the cheapest way to get in.

Wow, sounds like presale is the best option. Thanks for all the advice! Unfortunately tickets are no longer available for Saturday at XS... I'm guessing it sold out, damn. I guess I should just hit up the promoter then and do guest list and try to tip him out?

Go to www.wanttickets.com They should still be on sale there. Usually the xs website puts the link later on but wanttickets always will have it first. Xs uses wanttickets as their source
