  • Labor Day Long weekend vs. the week after?

    Hi All,

I am currently in the process have organising a bucks trip to Sin City all the way from Sydney, Australia.

I have narrowed the dates down to two options, arrive either on 9/4/14 or 9/11/14 - both dates will be for 4 days / 5 nights. To help use decide I was wondering:
    - Which dates wil give us the better all round 'Vegas' experience?
    - Which dates are more ideal for clubbing / pool parties?
    - Is there a big difference in terms of cost of reserving tables between the two dates, if so what would the costs roughly be? We were thinking of clubbing at XS and Tao.

I have checked accommodation prices and they are roughly the same....

    Cheers,

    Danny

    Labor Day is 9/1/14
so if you wanted to go Labor day weekend you would want to arrive on 8/28/14

Labor day weekend 8/29-9/1 will have a big crowd and big headline djs.

For the rest of September- all the pools will be open.
Floyd Mayweather will probably fight at MGM- date tba-maybe 2nd weekend of Sept.
Iheartradio concert is usually third weekend of Sept.

LDW will be more expensive for everything. It will be slammed as it is one of the busier times in vegas.Personally I'd avoid it, but some prefer the slammed times I'm just not one of em.
If you have to ask how much it costs, you probably can't afford it! That being said, it's Vegas and doesn't hurt to try!

      Planning
      2014 - March 13-16 - Bachelor Party
      2014 - June 5th - 9th (maybe) - Big 30.

Currently I do not have a money tree hiding in my backyard that I can harvest all day so I tend to stick with cost effective planning.

I normally try to go the week after a big weekend and before any other events. Usually everything is cheap and your $ can go much much farther.

Labor day will be massive in vegas. Weather will be hot and all pools will be open.

I dont know how far out events get scheduled but you might want to just go with it. Conventions/Rodeo/Fights/Sports etc drastically drive up the price.

If I had to choose it would be weekend after Labor Day as it seems there is a week break between big events.

Week after new years everything was 1/4 the price

          Oops!

          Thanks for the responses all

OK, so which weekend would you recommend - weekend after LDW or the one after that i.e. 2 weeks after LDW

It appears things are slightly cheaper the week after LDW compared to 2 weeks after....

If the weekends you're trying to come are roughly about the same pricing it all depends on your preference. If you don't mind the big crowds, I'd definitely say LDW. Pool parties and nightclubs are all pretty busy. Everyone I know who has come during that weekend has loved it and always come back. Our big name djs play day after day so there isn't a moment that won't be eventful.

But whatever weekend you choose, it's Vegas. You'll have a great time.

I have done Labor Day and it's a blast but costly. Here's a link that shows all of the current conventions going on the last week of August and all of September. The big one in September is he Super Mobile Show at the Venetian which is for the wireless community. The Kids Expo is quasi big and overlaps the Mobile.

LDW is a total shitshow and awesome if that's how you like your party. Am guessing though that your group are not vegas regular, so I would go on a later weekend. Will still be plenty busy for you (vegas is never really quiet, apart from maybe thanksgiving and xmas), you will have an amazing time and it will be much cheaper all round.

LDW is not as busy as Memorial Day or EDC so not a crowded, but just as expensive. Any weekend that month will be good. If you want to maximize your money, don't go on holidays/big event weekends during summer months, you can have just as much fun without all the extra hassle and pricing.
