This is so sad. I really hope the casinos and clubs take initiative to raise the security standards.

Curious to know what everyone thinks would be a reasonable level of security for nightclubs?
Metal detectors, pat downs, purse searches, etc.
Like all great travelers, I've seen more than I remember, and remember more than I have seen.

I would think a metal detecting wand could work pretty good. In the time it takes to look at an I.D. one security guard would be able to check you. Just hoping a belt or some shit doesnt set it off. I could just imagine trying to explain to a guard it's my belt only and the time it would take and then the lines start backing up.

+1 for metal detectors. I know it seems excessive, but people are on god knows what drinking who knows how much and not everyone is an upstanding person. I mean there are metal detectors at theme parks and those are supposed to be family places. Why not at a club thats all about living in gluttony and excess.

I do agree that it would problem bottle neck club lines, but there has to be some ways to alleviate that too. In these situations though some bouncers would need to come off the god complex a bit - some are just too over bearing and non-understanding
If you have to ask how much it costs, you probably can't afford it! That being said, it's Vegas and doesn't hurt to try!

            Planning
            2014 - March 13-16 - Bachelor Party
            2014 - June 5th - 9th (maybe) - Big 30.

I think Wet Republic was already doing pat downs

I am sure after some time they will alleviate the problems, just like sporting events. When they first started checking people it was a cluster, but they ironed out those issues for the most part.

Even with hosted entry you stand somewhere for a minute or two...maybe promoters could run around wanding everyone waiting in line. "Want a line pass?" then hit 'em with the wand. Logistically I don't really see it being a problem, I'm guessing the clubs feel as though it may be a bad look or whatever. And you know they'd have problems with some VIP's...

Pretty much my take. Given two equal clubs, I'll always take the one that doesn't treat me like a criminal... I doubt I'm alone in that.

Idk, I can see how that may give certain people a bad impression of the club like it is in an unsafe part of town but I also think it would give alot of people peace of mind knowing that nothing crazy is going to be going down.

Even if this didn't happen at Drais I would have suggested implimenting it there and strip clubs first. It always seams like the after hours spots are the ones that crazy shit goes down.

Ill take the peace of mind. I dont feel like I am getting treated as a terrorist at an airport getting scanned so I wont feel like I am getting treated like a criminal at a club getting checked

Would definitely slow the lines down and i agree with giving the club a bad look...The one time i went to gallery the security guys had the wand and people were getting patted down lol. Not really what you want to see.

It would have to be a gaming commission mandate, or the if the whole industry adopted this policy, it wouldn't as bad. Similar situation happened with the pools. After that death of a few years back, all of the pools became more proactive on the searches (mainly the sun added to the other bad stuff makes it less safe than the clubs), eventually everyone came to accept the fact that the pools are gonna search you and not be annoyed.
