    Hi,

Could someone please explain this handshake business for booking tables at nightclubs? I have been quoted $500 to book a table on a Saturday. Seems crazy, also be quoted $200 less for a table in the same place at a different location.

    Thanks

    XS I'm guessing?

The tables are not all priced the same. Closer to DJ, bigger table means more money.

Or do you mean you've been quoted differently by different hosts? If so, it happens.
EastCoast: "I will preach. Vegas is easy. So easy. Either be rich or good looking (or mooch off someone who is one of those). If you are neither, then sit back, let the rich and/or good looking people sort their shit out, and then take their scraps. Booking early is not going to get you ahead of the rich and/or good looking people. Sucks unless you are rich or good looking. But that's what makes Vegas so great. It is completely transparent."

XS Saturday night is 500 handshake. End of story.

Basically, you give the host a few hundred bucks when doing a table. Lets say you have a $1k min table at Marquee

      Minimum: $1000
      Tax and Gratuity @ 28%: $280
LET (Local Entertainment Tax - not all venues have this) @ 10%: $100
Handshake to host: Discretionary - but around $200 - $300, except XS Saturdays where its mandatory $500
Security man tip: Discretionary - $50 - $100. If you want the guy to move people away from you and clear the way for you to the toilets give more
      Busser tip: $20 - $50

So that $1k minimum in reality is $1800 all tips etc included, except XS where it'd be $2000.

        Thanks for the info.

So basically, without the crazy handshakes at XS, no table?

          it depends on location!!!
Some low min table outside far away is not $500 handshake.

The 500 handshake is only Saturday nights.

As artedm says, you could get an outdoor table. I wouldnt advise that though. XS is all about the indoors.

You could just go Friday or Sunday instead.

The better the location, the higher the shake. You don't have to shake $500 for a pool side table far from the stage. At XS, I like the DJ patio table the area to the sides of the stage if weather is good, if you need something on the lower min side.

Sorry to confirm - the $500 handshake is for Saturday only? For Friday or Sunday, I'm assuming there would be still a handshake right or no?

One of the lads has been quoted a $300 handshake for tryst for this Thursday, is this correct, or someone pulling a fast one? Is there anyone honest in Vegas?

                    That 300 handshake is correct.

You have to handshake on ANY night you want tables.

At tryst, you will pay a 300 handshake and get a deal like 2 goose/2 moet for $595. The 300 handshake goes to the host for arranging.

a 200 - 300 handshake is absolutely the norm in vegas on any night

$500 is ONLY XS and ONLY saturday nights.

Every club you have a table at you are expected to give the host a handshake. This ensures you get a good table, better service etc.

$300 handshake at Tryst for what you get from it is great value IMO!

We have had to do the $500 at XS a few times and you know what to expect before you go and it is what it is.

It all varies, the shake can be based on demand, location upgrade, getting a bottle deal, thank you for the service, etc.. typically the guys that shake get the better locations, help with recruiting girls, bottle deals, hell I may come over to the table with a free round of shots or give you another deal or something.

So do you do handshakes with the host even if you go through a promoter?

XS outside on the patio is still a good spot IMO
