  • Is MDW weekend worth experiencing for the younger crowd?

Sorry, I know this is a ways away, but me and my 2 boys are planning our trip to Vegas (I've been there before, but they haven't) in 2014. I have heard both good and bad things about MDW (The latter being that it is way too crowded and overpriced). This would be for my graduation (We will all be 23-24). Honestly, we are just trying to go all out and have a complete blast. I guess my main question is that for our age group, is it worth experiencing, or just a waste of time? Would it better to go another weekend where everything is cheaper so we can experience more regarding parties and clubs?

MDW is a great weekend! Are you doing tables or entry?
Tables will be higher min. Presale is pretty standard if you buy early.

you dont have to buy tables. Start out with experiencing the club and walking around, checking out the scenery... maybe get to meet other people. Presale is easy on any weekend. The big weekends may just be pricier. But as far as getting in.. etc. As long as you buy a presale ticket and not at the door. There is a separate line and its usually little or no wait.

Good to know. I would like to get a table one or two of the nights. What is the average min. increase? I'd like to get a table at a decent club, but it doesn't have to be Tier 1.....

Great advice. If we choose to go MDW I will make sure to take advantage of presales. I guess I am just curious about the amount of people. Sometimes it just gets to the point where you are packed like sardines in a club/bar and it is just isn't fun. I don't want to experience that (I have enough where I live)

If you're going to the top clubs...this WILL happen. I just did LDW (my first holiday weekend)...I have no desire to do a Holiday weekend again. Had a great time, but the crowds are over the top...and this was a "slow" LDW according to the locals. MDW is usually busier than LDW. Honestly, I'd suggest doing the weekend before or after. You'll still have a blast...and bonus, you could do an invasion instead of presales. Lot better value...
Like all great travelers, I've seen more than I remember, and remember more than I have seen.

Great, your response made me decide to pass on MDW. Me and my boys are planning on going the week after (the week of the 26th). Thanks again!

MDW is the second biggest weekend only topped by NYE.

Yes. Do it. Wall to wall honeys
EastCoast: "I will preach. Vegas is easy. So easy. Either be rich or good looking (or mooch off someone who is one of those). If you are neither, then sit back, let the rich and/or good looking people sort their shit out, and then take their scraps. Booking early is not going to get you ahead of the rich and/or good looking people. Sucks unless you are rich or good looking. But that's what makes Vegas so great. It is completely transparent."

OP: Just do your research. You won't have a problem for a holiday weekend. I went to Vegas throughout my years in college (I'm about your age) and had a blast. Do tables if you can afford them. If not, plan out your budget well and stick to it. There are a lot of resources on this web site. Use them to your advantage. If you need specific help with your budget, just post here or feel free to send me a PM.

In my opinion, you will have a better time on a budget on Late Spring, peak summer, non-holiday or event weekend, espcially for a newbie. If you've never been here before and came even in the Winter you would think it was the shit... Again, I'd choose a different weekend if on a budget.

Thanks. I planned on bringing ~$3000-3500 with me for 5 days for myself ( I do not gamble much at all), so I'm really not on a budget per say. My friends though, I have no idea.

My choices honestly for dates are MDW or the week of May 26th. That's all my friends can do and I am NOT going without them.

If the rest of the crew came with 3-4k you would be good to go, should be able to get tables at most places.

I felt so bad for the people waiting in the GA line at Hakkasan after the Mayweather fight for Calvin Harris. Must have been 50 to 100 people deep. I walked right in through the presale line. Completely empty. You'd think more people would know about presales but heck, the less that know the better for us

I did Mdw '13 and will be going back for Mdw '14
It was my first time in Vegas and couldn't if went better
Only twice did I feel the clubs were a bit much to deal with surrender for porter Robinson
                              And hak for hardwell
I didn't do bottle service (well once at a trashy strip club but it was my Bach party so I didn't pay that one night), bought pre sale for teisto at wet
Acivii at ebc. Skrillex at eclipse UFC Got free guest list into hak
Paid 50 at midnight strolled into surrender with maybe a 10 min wait

Spent 1300 while there, 90% of that was on booze at clubs
                              Kept food cheap

From others in my group who had been there many times before they said the eye candy was much better this time. I'm assuming Mdw brought out a lot of amazing Cali ladies
                              So ya I'd recommend Mdw
