  • First Trip to Vegas for her 40th birthday Sept 25 – 0ct 1st

Taking my wife to Vegas for her 40th birthday Sept 25 – 0ct 1st (she looks 30 and still gets asked for ID)

Would like to show her a great time but it is a little overwhelmed…

hoping for some help and direction on where and when to hit certain spots and the spots to avoid.

Will be honest, I have worked way too much over the last 10 years so I am trying to make this up to her by giving her a trip that she will remember forever.

We come from a small town a couple hours outside of Toronto Canada and this is our first time visiting Vegas. There is nothing like the Vegas clubs around here so I will feel like a fish out of water a little haha

She loves to dance but it will be just the two of us so wasn’t sure about tables and handshakes etc, just know I don't want to spend out trip waiting in huge lines and never seeing the inside of a club.

Any help you can offer would be greatly appreciated

44 years old here. Here's a few suggestions.

For 2 people I would not suggest a table. I would go pre sale tickets which bypasses the general admission line.

I would say hands down Hakkasan and The Light as must sees. Now the sick part of your weekend is the schedule of DJ's just there.

Wed 9/25 at Light Nicky Romero. Here's the link for upcoming performances. Personally not a fan of the others that weekend.

Hakkasan on Thursday is Calvin Haris, Friday Hardwell and Saturday Tiesto. Take your pick onj that line up. Here's the link to schedule:

If you can take 1 day out I would recommend doing the Grand Canyon trip. Did the South Rim tour with fiance and it was worth it. You can look them up online or once you check in go to the concierge and they will help. we went through concierge since we had a better feel for the schedule with our group. Will kill one complete day so depending on what nights you hit clubs will determine. Personally since the buses leave anywhere between 6 and 7 AM and get back 12-15 hours later maybe Wednesday adjust to the time difference, sight see and all and chill, do Grand Canyon Thursday then you have until the 1st to hit the Vegas party scene.

A low key night can also be the outdoor party that occurs at Carnival outside of Harrahs. Live bands and dj's with a dancefloor. Wide open regarding the ages at this place.

I also suggest doing a couple of hours one night down at Fremont Street. Completely different scene and a lot of the Old Vegas style. Got to the top of the Stratosphere, unbelievable view. Top of the Paris tower. We prefer at night for this so we can watch the Bellagio fountain show to see from above. You also have the Mirage volcano show and Treasure Island pirate show.

Go to www.vons.com and sign up for free to place an order of snacks, water, booze to be delivered to the hotel. Free delivery for first time users. Did it this past July for our 1 week trip and best $150 we invested. Allowed us to pre game so we didn't burn as much at the clubs on drinks or to carry with us while walking the strip since you can have an open container in Vegas. $10 tip got the guy to bring it up to the room. You can set up the time slot of when they should arrive.

Hope this helps for a starting point.
Happily sponsoring the Las Vegas economy since July 1996

lots of great advice from kp3205 !!!
        generally
        1. Take 15 minutes now to look at EVERY pool/ nightclubs lineup- see who the DJ is- for example Hip Hop, trance, dubstep, open format, edm. COMPARE and find what you like best! On club websites and www.wantickets.com
        2. Presale tickets is a great way to go for quick hassle free entry, just remember to be in dress code and have id. Dress clothes for nightclubs and swimwear for pools.
        3. Daytime pool clubs are open from around 11am-6pm and nightclubs 11pm-5am. Music will be going the whole time but headliners are usually on around 3pm at pool parties and 1am at nightclubs.
        4. Grand Canyon South rim bus trip is $80 flat total person including entrance fees and lunch. Takes all day from around 730am to 930pm www.grandcanyontourcompany.com/bussouth.html

        Specifically for your dates:
A lot of great headline djs are in town. Also Elton John, David Copperfield, and Motley Crue are doing shows. Since you said your from Canada should also mention two NHL preseason hockey games are at mgm grand arena friday and saturday night.

here is a quick sample agenda with the big names mentioned-
9/25 Elton John concert then Nicky Romero Light
9/26 David Cooperfield magic show then Calvin Harris Hak
9/27 NHL hockey game then David Guetta xs or skrillex light or hardwell hak or dash berlin marquee
9/28 day David Guetta Encore beach club pool party
9/28 night Tiesto Hak or Avicii XS
9/29 day Steve Aoki Wet Republic- pool party- dj who throws cakes and sprays champagne
9/29 night Eric Prydz XS nightswim
9/30 morning grand canyon south rim bus trip
        9/30 DJ Vice Marquee

Just got back from Vegas this past weekend. Went to Light on Friday night (Thomas Gold = wowo!) and Tao on Saturday. I had similar questions like yours before this trip. We picked the clubs and ordered our tickets online before the trip. We showed up each night before 11pm dressed in our best (suits!) and waited in little to no line with the presale tickets.

I was a little suspect of the EDM scene, but people kept talking about LIGHT, so we pulled the trigger and ended up being really impressed. The club was still filling in till about 11:30 while we enjoyed drinks and watched the scene, placed was comfortably packed by 12:30. Hitting the dance floor I was super impressed by the sound quality, the amazing gut turning bass, and the massive lighted wall and ceiling. DJ Thomas Gold was great and really had the crowd moving. It was the details, like easy bar and restroom access, fast bar tenders, friendly security and staff, and crazy cool performers. I felt like everyone there was happy we were there, a feeling I wasn't expecting given past night club experiences. We danced so much I was happy to have passed on bottle service, though if I could see its value for impressing women, and having a seat for the views of the giant screen and dance floor.

Tao was more your typical night club, while we had a good time, LIGHT was something from another galaxy. We heard Hakkasan was on a similar level. Next trip.

One piece of advise, if you are going to get tables, get them Sun-Thurs, maybe Friday so you can get a good one with just one bottle. Pools, MDC/Liquid/Tao have chairs I believe so you can get a reasonable spot to party if you are on a budget.
I think the best clubs without a table are ... XS/ Marquee (Just the Pool Area)/Light/ Surrender if it's nice outside. Everywhere else just seems to not have a place to get away from people bumping into you all night. I have spots it those 4 mentioned to get away from the crowd. Maybe some others, Hope this info helps.
