  • Ladies, early 30s, no hiphop...

A girlfriend and I are going to be weekending in Las Vegas soon (sep 20th) and are looking for a nightclub recommendation. We don't want to barhop all over the place, what we need is a Friday and Saturday night suggestion for a place we can get into and be comfortable at all night. We are staying at the Paris, but from what I read/hear, the Chateau is too electronic/hiphop for us. I'd like to go somewhere nearby with a chill atmosphere, dance-able music, I don't mind an "older" crowd - it makes us look better though I'm confident we can hold our own with the college kids too. We have tickets to Penn & Teller, so the club at the Rio would be convenient, thoughts on that are welcome! Thanks so much for any suggestions you might have!

+1 for P&T. Still my favorite show on the strip.

My fiance and 6 of her friends while there (28-35 in age) in July for her bachelorette party loved Surrender and last October they did Pure (Free guestlist) and had a blast also. She is the get on the floor and dance type as long as I know or heard this song before vs me the EDM guy so my suggestions won't match up to what you are looking for.

      Hope this helps.

Thanks for the suggestion, I think I can relate to your wife's style of "as long as I've heard this song before". To put THAT into perspective, I don't have any idea what an "EDM guy" is. But I'm totally out there with my hands up if they play YMCA...

          Ghostbar might be an option.

Lol...I am an electronic dance music fan that is more into the backbeats/sounds behind the song. I literally will stand on the dancefloor with her and just listen to the song with no reaction. Weird, I know, she keeps telling me that.

I'm gonna be there from 9/19-23rd for a big bachelor/bachelorette party, late 20s early 30s group. We are gonna be at Light Friday night for Fatboy Slim. It's EDM but he's an old-school DJ/Producer. I hear the venue is awesome, maybe it's an option for you even if it's "EDM"

                Thanks again!

Thanks so much for the suggestions so far! I love that when I googled Ghostbar I found this review on yelp:

"Great if you like middle aged women with no underwear."

Good to know what the dress code is...

Fatboy Slim is a great tip - our flights land in the evening on Friday so I'm hesitant to buy tickets (says you have to arrive at Light by 11pm for guaranteed entry), but we might try to get them at the door...does anyone know if that's a longshot?

For Saturday night I'm leaning towards Pure. Do I need to contact the host(ess) to get on the list or can two single ladies (with underwear ) just show up at the door? Thanks again, great forum!!

Pure you'll be fine. Light I would get presales
EastCoast: "I will preach. Vegas is easy. So easy. Either be rich or good looking (or mooch off someone who is one of those). If you are neither, then sit back, let the rich and/or good looking people sort their shit out, and then take their scraps. Booking early is not going to get you ahead of the rich and/or good looking people. Sucks unless you are rich or good looking. But that's what makes Vegas so great. It is completely transparent."

                    Jumor-
Generally- its important to remember vegas has a wide spectrum of options-
From $1 margarita bars to $20+ a drink bars. Nightclubs go from ordinary to crazy shows with visuals, lasers, confetti.

It helps to look at all club lineups and compare to get a sense of whats going on while your there.

Specifically for your weekend- Sept. 20 and 21 is Iheartradio at mgm grand arena google for lineup
there is also $20 a ticket outdoor music festival on Sept. 21 part of iheartradio google for lineup

Light nightclub is over the top in terms of production- visuals. Its open on friday and saturdays. The weekend your going its only open to the public on 9/20. It's hosting a private event on 9/21 and closed to the public.

XS nightclub at encore wynn was the highest grossing nightclub in the world in 2012. And is one of the most highly rated reviewed clubs in vegas.

Also worth pointing out Calvin Harris is playing Hakkasan the new club at MGM on 9/21. Calvin is one of the most successful dj/producers.

                    In terms of comfort-
Its important to remember at the bigger nightclubs there is very little to no free seating. So unless your willing to make friends with some people who have tables- you might be standing/ dancing most of the night.
                    Tickets-
If your thinking about light,xs or hak presale tickets is a great way to go. You might get free entry on a guestlist but its dicey on a friday and saturday night and you might have to arrive early/ wait in a long line.
Plan in advance!! Most general admission lines are crazy insane- long waits so don't risk it.
Also remember most clubs open around 1030pm with the headline dj on around 1am closing around 5am.
                    Have fun!

Thanks a bunch for the iheartradio tip! I just bought tickets for the outdoor portion on Saturday, I doubt we'll spend much time there, but I'm excited to have another option!

And the lack of seating is what I have started to understand...I've been all over this forum (and others) trying to figure out what the deal is with the $1200 bottle service and the $500 handshakes, and had just about decided that all of this was "man territory" that single women don't need to worry their pretty little heads about, but you've cracked it for me - unless I want to make nice with any guy with a table, I have to get a table of my own. It's a bit overwhelming, I've never partied in cities with this kind of club culture, honestly it has me thinking I'm getting in over my head - I don't need the hangover anyway, maybe I'll go play keno.
