  • Less Glam, More EDM

In the process of planning my first trip to Vegas for early December, and I'm wondering what kind of options there are for more of an underground feel.
To put it in perspective, when the party scene started to get cracked down on where I'm from events started moving into semi-legal venues and occasionally accommodating clubs. I figure there has to be some venues in Vegas that cater to this type of scene.
I'm talking about a place where the promoters are into the music and the party just as much if not more than making loads of money. A place I can roll into with my hat and white sneaks. A place that isn't all about flash. A place that draws in kids looking for deep DJ sets. Minimal techno/house, deep house or tech-house, breaks, even a purist's trance would be good.

If anyone has any ideas it would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

In July when we went we went down to Fremont Street as the "clubs" are more lounge vibe and serious sets. Here's a link to the area:

    http://www.fremontstreetbars.com/fre...las-vegas-map/

Reviews from a Thursday night there. T shirt and jeans was the attire:

DCR is a total lounge Chicago house/trance vibe. Nothing in terms of the EDM that everyone listens too. Couches, small floor, maybe 150-200 will fit in the joint. Great mixologists

Vanguard is long and narrow. More deep sets and had a heavy dub step, 200-250 max capacity maybe.

Went to Artisan which was combo house/EDM/dance. Bigger location not sure where it was as we cabbed there. You can check out their website, is an after hours location. Had the buzz in full effect by then so capacity wise would be skewed maybe 500 max?

    Hope this helps.

take 15 minutes to look at and compare each clubs lineup- usually revealed 30-60-90 days before.
But kp is right Fremont street might be what your looking for.

Fremont East bars for that true rowdy "college party" atmosphere. I love going to the Artisan, usually catch a cab around 3-4ish, place is jumping! The past few times the DJ was DEEP into a dark minimal/trance set (for lack of better way to describe it), way beyond what you'll hear at other venues. I always recommend it as a place to "end up", not start the night

After hours, Drais main house room should work or Body English if you're looking to be closer to strip. Both go after hours.

Thanks for the speedy info. I'll definitely check out Artisan. Only about a 3 mi walk from where I plan on staying, so still easily in my wheelhouse. Only question is if I need to stay on guard if I'm making my way back toward the strip at 5 or 6 a.m?

Any other ideas or info would still be much appreciated! I'm planning to be there Thu-Mon, so if I could hit up one spot Fri and one Sat that would be ideal.

            Thanks again!

Drai's - more underground than the clubs on the Strip, but not as underground as you might find elsewhere around the world.

But convenient (in Bally's) and hot crowd
EastCoast: "I will preach. Vegas is easy. So easy. Either be rich or good looking (or mooch off someone who is one of those). If you are neither, then sit back, let the rich and/or good looking people sort their shit out, and then take their scraps. Booking early is not going to get you ahead of the rich and/or good looking people. Sucks unless you are rich or good looking. But that's what makes Vegas so great. It is completely transparent."

Take the cab back to the hotel in the early mornings when coming back from Artisan. Not worth the risk imho.

I think I know what youre looking for. The Fremont stuff, Drais and Artisan may be the closest you'll find compared to the big club EDM sets. When you go to the more underground stuff, you're with people that appreciate that vibe and music.

While I like the big clubs with big name DJs, as an EDM enthusiast, you know most of the people arent in the same vibe as you. Most are there for the club, meat market and Vegas experience.
