  • Handshake for Table Location...Insight Please!

I'd like clarification on the "handshake"....I've arranged bottle service several times for my groups at XS, Tryst, and Tao. I'm all for tipping and I tip more for better service and table location. However, I noticed that sometimes the person that actually seats my group for bottle service is not the same person that I made arrangements with. I'm guessing the person that actually seats the group is the person that pulls the most weight in table location? Or is it the person that you booked through? If I tip the person that seats us and it's not the same person that I booked with, how does my contact person get compensated? Do they share the tip?

    Any insight is appreciated!

Interesting I usually do it the other way around I tip the host that sets it up not the one seating me if it’s not the same person. What I say is tell so and so I will take care of him when he comes by they usually stop by to see how you are doing and if they know they have a good handshake they may move you.

Although I’d love more feedback from others?

This has been discussed at length here: http://forums.jackcolton.com/showthr...hlight=tipping
Like all great travelers, I've seen more than I remember, and remember more than I have seen.

At XS and Tryst we work off tips we do not receive a commission unlike other venues. We also pool all of our tips. Typically, we have runners and/or promoters/jr hosts running tables and Sr. Hosts will be up top checking in other tables. All the tables are logged into the system with the agreed upon tips so that the podium director can seat you accordingly. Now it does yourself no good to get checked in to see if you have a good table and then tip because at this point the podium director believes you haven't tipped. If your hosts books you a reservations based upon a certain handshake you will likely get a better table as well as a reduced min. If possible. "Help us Help you!" ;-)
