  • Getting on the dance floor?

Hi JC residents, maybe you can help me out here. I've been hitting Vegas 3-5 times a year, which is decent, but I've never had trouble getting in on the dance floor when the main DJ hits the stage, but my last 2 times (EDC Weekend, and mid Jan), I've been noticing that they just block off the whole dance floor.

The only way in seems to be to tip the bouncer $20, which is really annoying. In XS in January I just jumped over the tables and waltzed into the dance floor to avoid the bouncer. Our group mostly made it ok until one girl tripped and faceplanted. Kinda ruined the night so we had to leave.

This past EDC weekend my buddy slipped the bouncer $20 and got our group in until I realized I forgot my CC at the bar. I went to grab it and had to pay another $5 to get back on the dance floor.

Come on. We pay an exorbitant admission price already at these clubs, pay for expensive drinks, and now we have to pay to get on the dance floor? Perhaps a bit too much IMO.

Dancefloor only holds so many - they need to control the flow. If you don't want to tip, then get onto the dancefloor earlier. It's just like you tip to skip a GA line around midnight, rather than walking straight in when the club opens. You're wanting a benefit here and not to pay for it
EastCoast: "I will preach. Vegas is easy. So easy. Either be rich or good looking (or mooch off someone who is one of those). If you are neither, then sit back, let the rich and/or good looking people sort their shit out, and then take their scraps. Booking early is not going to get you ahead of the rich and/or good looking people. Sucks unless you are rich or good looking. But that's what makes Vegas so great. It is completely transparent."

I mean I get it, money talks in Vegas, but at the same time I feel like the trend is going out of control in the past 3 years. It used to be you just text a promoter and you get in. At worst guys pay $20. Now it's guaranteed you pay given the DJ lineup unless you got a group of 10 girls.

It's not like this is going to break the bank for me but at the same time it used to take a lot less money to have fun in Vegas, you get what I mean? Now it's pay here pay there, pay everywhere. And something as trivial as getting on the dance floor? I think that's a bit too much. I can understand the inflated ticket prices or drinks, but the dance floor is almost like a barrier to being able to enjoy the club.

Nothing more fun than seeing tons of dudes on the dancefloor when you've got BS set up at a nice club

It was EDC weekend, no one should be shocked the dancefloor was locked down at XS. I would have gone outside to the area behind the DJ booth myself. People are too invested in 'seeing' the DJ these days. Put the phone in your pocket, find some open space and dance.
