Hi

Can it be a good idea to go to 1Oak if you don't like hip hop ?
I just saw the schedule is online for April 18 and 19, no special event nor rapper djing, but normal Friday night with "DJ Que" and a normal saturday night.

I am looking for a Tier 2 club with top 40 / EDM music and good female ratio

DJ Que is open format, so he'll do some hip hop, some top 40, some EDM. Are you looking at a Friday night? If so, take a look at Tryst and Surrender IMO.

She's a playmate-turned-DJ, but is actually good (as opposed to, say, Paris Hilton). That would be a fun party. You'd think it would be guy heavy, but I'd be willing to bet the ratio is actually pretty close to normal.

Lil Jon actually does mostly EDM stuff if I remember correctly. I saw him at EBC and he only "rapped" one song, and did mostly electronic stuff. I was pretty drunk by then, though, and it was 3 years ago, so I could be wrong.

1. Friday night is 1OAK's best night. It will be very crowded. People on this forum, including me, love 1OAK. I went on a Friday night in October and had a blast. I will go back on my next trip to Vegas in June. Scroll through this thread and the forum and you will see similar reviews for 1OAK.
2. While 1OAK is open format most of what you will hear is what you are looking for - top 40 and EDM. The EDM will be the EDM that you hear on top 40 radio stations. I think people read hip hop and think rap. The only rap you will hear is Jay Z and other top 40 type rap songs.
Edit to add that I have been to Tryst 5-6 times, Surrender 2 times and 1OAK 1 time. In my experience the female ratio was the same at all three clubs. The best ratios are - in my experience - at XS and Marquee. The other clubs are all about the same.

Off topic but have you heard of DJ technicolor? He is supposed to play when we go to Tryst next month and I'd like to know what he plays typically.

You will have a great time. Ive had dance floor table on a Saturday there and security was great and waitress/runner helped notify security as well when they thought another table was starting to encroach on our area. Dancefloor table at 1OAK is a blast

Just like the slogan says....Somehow I ended up at the 1Oak!.... Just started hoppin from bar to bar at midnight...nothing major, not dressed up much....then we showed up at the 1Oak around 3am and left at 600am.... David Chan is awesome and the music is a mix of majority hiphop and some EDM

My group went to 1OAK on Saturday night (4 days ago). We used Joey Orr who was fantastic. We negotiated the bottle deal, handshake and table location with Joey in advance. We had a dancefloor table. This was our second trip to 1OAK. We went last October and had a blast. But we were VERY disappointed with the crowd at 1OAK on Saturday. The demographic were very different from last October. A majority of the crowd (more like 2/3 of the crowd) was African American. And the talent of the non-African American part of the crowd was very low. I don't have high standards at all (see my previous posts about aiming low early) so if I say there was not much talent then damn there was not much talent. I absolutely hate to post this summary because the club was great in October and Joey was fantastic and easy to work with. But I have to let people know what we experienced. We left the club at 1:00am and headed back to our Cosmo bungalow to get a couple of hours in at Marquee.
