  • First time in Vegas going to Eric Prydz in Surrender worried about dress code.

Hi I'm coming to vegas for a week on the 11th with my gf and another couple to celebrate my 30th. Its our first time in Vegas and we are hoping to get some clubbing in.

Just a bit worried reading the JC dress code guide. In Europe the fashion is different, we would almost never wear shirt/pants/leather shoes on a night out. We go to ibiza every year and even in the high end clubs such as Pacha or Space it would be rare to see anyone in those types of clothes.

Would it be okay to wear a nice polo shirt with chinos and plimsol shoes?

Something similar in style to this...

Also any recommendations for clubbing next week? Eric Prydz was about the only non cheesy DJ I could find on when we were there.

    Thanks for you help,

    Emmet.

      really?

now bear in mind I dont look like im 12 like the dude in the photo.

an outfit like this would be considered more than acceptable at high end club this side of the atlantic.

I was hoping I'd get away with a polo with the heat over there, how about denim shirt/ chino combos?

I actually own only one pair of black leather shoes which only get worn with my suits, men don't really go for casual black leather shoes over here.

Lol trust me I feel your pain, I'm not the type to dress up when I go out, I like to keep it a little casual but in Vegas it's a little different, I guess it also depends on the mood of the bouncer if he feels like letting you in or not. My first time in Vegas, they did not let one of my buddies in because he wasn't wearing dress shoes. It's better to play it safe and purchase a pair of dress shoes that way you don't run in to any problems.

It's better to play it safe than sorry when you're halfway around the world trying to enjoy your birthday/vacation. You're safe with the typical button down long sleeve shirt, slacks and black dress shoes. No need for tie or anything, a vest would be a nice add on if you want to add that on.

Any of these won't give you any problems at the door.

You could even get away with this look and a pair of black shoes (doesn't have to be dress shoes but not tennis/basketball shoes either)
dress shirt, rolled up sleeves and a nice pair of jeans, nothing baggy or old looking.

              thanks guys.

That more or less confirms my worries. Loafers with jeans or chinos just looks wrong to me so weird such a party capitol would be so backwards with regards dress code.

Is it more lax on dress code if we were to go down town a few nights? Are there any good late bars down town playing good house/electronic music?

              Thanks for your help.

I wouldn't call it backwards, it's just different. Vegas is not Ibiza, and it's a different vibe.

Its not backwards, just more high end. If you were a club owner you wouldn't want people walking into your $100 million dollar club wearing a tank and board shorts would you? That would leave a bad impression on people who see pictures or walk by your club with a bunch of jersey shore looking dudes lining up outside.

Downtown, bars, anywhere but the clubs & fine dining restaurants you're thinking of going to you can pretty much wear whatever is comfortable to you.

                    Backwards was a bit harsh.

I suppose what I mean by that is that maybe 10-15 years ago in Ireland/UK you would have to be wearing black shoes/shirts/jeans to get into a club. It was like that when I first starting going out clubbing but over the years clubs have become a lot more relaxed, you still have to look smart and be well turned out but you don't have to look like your out with your work colleagues.

I mean I can see where they are coming from in wanting to keep a certain level of "style" but I think if a club is hosting acts and djs that are from a certain culture then they could allow their patrons to wear clothes more in tune with that culture.

Either way its no big deal. I'll have to break in my loafers again before I go dancing though!

Don't get me wrong nobody wants to be in a club with guys in sports jerseys and baggy jeans.

But I think that a club full of guys in a uniform of various shirts, jeans and black shoes isn't exactly the most fashionably or high end look either.

But like I say no biggie for sure having to year shoes I dont like is worth it if it helps the club staff are keep out all the trash.

haha they don't even let the DJ play what they want, they tell them what he can play when those DJs are there.

                            Vegas isn't Ibiza though.

Ibiza is all about the music and all the clubs there know that people need to wear shorts because they'll be sweating from molly.

It's all relative too - what you want to wear is exactly what the Ibiza "uniform" is in clubs; in Vegas it's the other way around with a more formal look. I found that in Ibiza, NOT being dressed in shorts and a polo like the rest of the whole English population was actually a good thing/point of difference. Being from Aus, club dresscode here is in between Ibiza and Vegas - you can't get into any club in shorts really, but wearing a suit isn't common (unless it's post-work on a Friday)
EastCoast: "I will preach. Vegas is easy. So easy. Either be rich or good looking (or mooch off someone who is one of those). If you are neither, then sit back, let the rich and/or good looking people sort their shit out, and then take their scraps. Booking early is not going to get you ahead of the rich and/or good looking people. Sucks unless you are rich or good looking. But that's what makes Vegas so great. It is completely transparent."

I wasn't saying I wanted to wear shorts to the club. And if I was going out at night in ibiza I don't wear shorts there either.

Honestly its not that big a deal to me, just a bit weird dancing in shoes but ill get over it.

After reading a few other threads on this forum I don't think I'll be bothering too much with the bigger clubs in Vegas, as you say it isn't Ibiza and I think thats what Ill be comparing it to.

I can see me maybe doing some more pool parties instead and going downtown if we can find a spot with good tunes and atmosphere.
