I remember a few years back i got quoted on a prime table on the inside 3k with a 500 shake..kinda turned me off to get a table there due to the handshake, (i mean im going to tip nice reguardless but i dident like that addition) but in your case Guetta will be there he just won a billboard award, they can charge whatever they want...lol
The $500 shake at XS....

Sounds more like price agreements between the hosts to me. Otherwise one would offer $400 and get all the business.Originally posted by Raider10 View PostIt's an Economics lesson in supply and demand I guess! Still I would choose to go somewhere else if this was the ask. It's not as if XS is the be all end all of clubs in Vegas that night. Especially on a holiday weekend!

Only way it will ever end is if people stop booking tables...AND tell them the reason they aren't booking is the $500 shake.
I don't see this happening anytime soon though.Like all great travelers, I've seen more than I remember, and remember more than I have seen.

so check this out....
A $2k min with bottle prices of Ciroc jacked up to $650 for the weekend, add 28% tax & tip, plus $500 shake(down) and you're pretty much paying $1k per bottle! lol
I know, I know.....you're paying for real estate and yada yada but when you look at it that way it's no wonder I saw a quote somewhere from a host "Separating suckers from their money".....

yeah, definitely makes sense business wise and I honestly don't blame them....nothing to really regulate and they're playing by the rules of the game....just hurts us shmucks at the low end of the disposable income scale....

I think they're being smart...
You would end up paying more if there wasnt the handshake...theyre just getting something as a tip. It's a premium club, premium location, premium Holiday...they can charge alot cause people will pay, totally supply and demand...
I dont see them doing $500 handshake for a regular night and a regular table.
Anyway, its 28% tax + gratuity?!? So a 2k min would actually mean 2.6k?? Damn!! + 500 handshake is more then 3k...2015

Indeed - when there are few parties in a market it's easy to collude and set prices artifically high.Originally posted by ENC012E View PostAKA "Collusion"? lolOriginally posted by benst86 View PostSounds more like price agreements between the hosts to me. I'm not sure if this has been answered here before but would the owners of a Vegas club not be seriously pissed that their hosts are sticking a mandatory tip on table mins which already have an auto grat involved? Is this not just robbing from the owners pockets?
I understand a tip can make things go much more smoothly in Vegas but should this not be voluntary?

Im not really in agreement with it, but it is what is. You are still going and paying, so obviously they are getting it. Youd be surprised how many people dont tip. Its a sales job, and holidays and events make a huge difference in their pay. After you get stiffed so many times, Im sure it becomes easy to justify. You always have the option to say no, and its way better than getting bumped at the door, because you didnt voluntarily tip that much.Blackout Artist

Not to mention this $500 handshake for an inside table has been going on for a WHILE now.
