  • License expires day before I leave -- Will Passport do the trick?

    Hey
My license expires exactly a day before I head to Vegas and I haven't got my new one yet. I was thinking if I bring my passport I should be good. You guys think this would be OK? It's a California Passport.

If your passport is from the USA, should be fine. Its a federal document.

Sounds great. You think a temp ID will be needed?

          Might not work
Do you have a drivers license and a passport?
The id checks are very serious- remember you are at a casino- you could be turned away
          I would not risk it.

Oops, I misspelled my first post. I will have an EXPIRED (1 day expired) license and a active US passport.

Passport is all you should need. How long does it take to get a driver's license in CA? Here in CT walk in DMV and walk out with new drivers license.

I've never heard of anywhere in my life where a U.S. passport isn't acceptable identification. It's also much harder to forge than a Driver's License. You're fine.

Yeah California takes about 7-10 days. Make an appointment or wait in line for 2 hours. Pay your renewal, get ID in two weeks. Or renewal online if you don't want to re-take your picture. This happened to me in March. Expired two days before I left for Vegas. Brought my passport. No problems.
