Walk in

I've seen lots of people on here talk about getting a "walk in" from a host or promoter. In this situation, do you need pre-sale tickets or are you just working out an amount with them to get you in the door? Wondering about this for pool parties and night clubs.

Depends on the venue and the host. Walk-ins without a table aren't near as common as they used to be since pre-sales became a thing. Most pre-sales get you in the door in less than 15 minutes unless you are coming in on a holiday weekend, so usually you don't need to pay for a walk-in.

If you are trying to set up a walk-in, clarify with the host up front if you will need a ticket or have to pay cover. I always gave hosts a much larger tip if the could include the cover (there was a former XS host that had this down to a science), but it seems most places now that is tough to do.

I'd say 95% of the time pre-sale is a better all around option.

I would also recommend tickets if you are going the GA route. Unless you have a prior relationship with a host of the club you are attending

Ya, when it comes to stuff like that I have learned to stop name dropping in open forums when possible, I am sure the clubs don't necessarily approve of the process, so I usually throw that stuff in DMs. A lot of guys got in some big trouble back in the Pure days for tax evasion related to tips, which I imagine is part of what gave rise to the pre-sale ticket process. Pre-sale is the new walk-in.
