  • Paying your table service bill

We, group of 6 guys, are planning a few table service nights this coming June.
We are staying in MGM during the weeknights then Skylofts for the weekend. If we secure Hakkasan table service(I know the minimums are ridiculous!!)can we sign the tab at the end of the night to our room as we're residents in MGM?
No-one in the group willing to put it on CC and so it's either charge to room or carry the cash.
Any help/suggestions would be appreciated - any other ways of paying the bill etc.
    Many thanks
    Frank

You should be able to charge it to your room.

I'm not sure hakkassan is a club that allows it or not. I know some clubs/lounges on MGM properties do. Who's card is on the room? I'm curious why you don't use that one at the club. If you pay for the table upon arrival nobody should be allowed to charge to it after you pay the bill.

You should have no problems charging to your room under that scenario. I've done it tons of times at clubs and pools at MGM properties.

It's something they are used to because it's what the big gamblers do when dealing with comps.

Even if you charge to the room, someone's card will have to be hit with the club tabs. If you're trying to hide that you went to a club charging to the room may be the way to go, since the club name will probably not show up on the credit card bill. I know you can for sure do that at Marquee. Not sure about MGM properties.

In my opinion though, cash is king!

I'm gonna read between the lines here and say that if there's friction already about how you're gonna pay - watch out. Unless you know the people real well, it's best to get the money up front. I got burned once (which is all it takes )

Many thanks for all the replies. We know each other well and are all in agreement to the minimum spends, tax, gratuities etc. Our plan was to get the cash off everyone upfront. In particular to our Hakkasan night, we were hoping to charge it to the room(my card on room)and then go to reception the next day and pay the cash to wipe it from the bill upon check out.
I'm very uneasy about carrying lots of cash on the night knowing I won't be paying the bill until the early hours of the morning and after copious amounts of booze!!
                Thanks

If you do take the cash to the club you can close out your bill at the beginning of the night.

Another option would be putting a cash deposit down on your room and then charging it to the room. Venetian/Palazzo has allowed me to do this in the past.

Chuck - thanks for that. When you say close out at start of the night, would I pay over the cash($5K minimum+40.1% tax/gratuity)as soon as we're at our table?
If we go over that, we'll be presented with a further bill at the end?
Is that a common way of doing it - the servers would all be aware of it?
                      Many thanks

Does anyone know the specifics on how MGM handles this? I was planning on calling to ask MGM so there aren't any surprises but maybe someone here knows. The basics: I have a comped room for a couple days and paying for some others (not really important) and will check in with my credit card on file. As I understand from reading elsewhere Mgm grand pre-authorizes the card for the amount plus $100 per day for incidentals. That's all fine, now where my question comes in is that I was planning on charging stuff to my room to get credit on mlife for the spend, I.e. bottles at wet, light? (I know haze had the option, and I was going to check with Noah on this part for light specifically). Since this amount obviously will exceed the pre authorized amount, will they just charge it right away, pre authorize the now higher amount, or will the authorization just remain the same and I can settle my bill as normal. The reason I ask this is I was going to put the room on a card that would have plenty of a limit for the room, and I'd pay cash for the room charges, but this card doesn't have that high of a limit to add on authorizations for several thousand more from bottle service. I have plenty of other options if necessary to pay for it, but wanted to see if anyone had personal experience with this. Thanks

I don't know specifically how MGM handles it, but, if you didn't see my other post in this thread, Venetian/Palazzo allowed me to put a cash deposit down on the room and then charge everything to the room. I did that for all the same reasons you stated, and I see no reason why MGM wouldn't allow you to do that, too.

We are going to Light also and doing table service there. Pardon my lack of knowledge but is Mandalay an MGM property?
I will check with Noah on this but there shouldn't be a problem with paying the minimum etc up front when we arrive or, alternatively, charging the bill to our room at MGM?
