I might even separate tier 2 one more time. I'd say Marquee, Drai's, Intrigue, and Jewell are a step above Surrender, Hyde, Light, and Tao. But they are close so its almost like splitting hairs.

I'd agree with this. Although I haven't been to the new spots yet. Marquee and Drais are definitely a notch above Tao and the like, IMO. Could maybe bump Surrender up too. That would be an interesting Forum project, coming up with tiersOriginally posted by ryan850 View PostI might even separate tier 2 one more time. Again, not sure how Jewel can be considered a Tier 2 just based off the lineup. Steve Aoki, Lil Jon, Chainsmokers, Steve Angello, etc. all in the rotation, and obviously Hakkasan Group can just funnel whatever names they want over. Not to mention charging Omnia/Hakkasan pricing. Like I said before, I'm not a fan of Jewel, but at the same time I don't think anyone can rationally say this is a Tier 2 club.
Also, rather than fragment the tiers further, I would probably create a more fluid and limited Tier 1.5 that includes clubs that have some big names as well as a lot of niche performers who draw a certain crowd, like Marquee, or possibly Drai's.
I mean, MDC bumped grands with 25k+ mins at Dash Berlin last weekend, and they get huge niche draws for DJs like Porter Robinson, Thomas Jack, Duke Dumont, etc. Actually at Thomas Jack two weeks ago I ran into some people at one of the cabanas who drove up from AZ that morning just to see Thomas Jack. I was like, are you nuts - why would you not just come up for the whole weekend? But that's the type of niche crowd some of their acts draw. It's clear they have a certain strategy in that regard.
Also guys, the name of the nightclub is Jewel, like the word jewel. One "L".

I think its hard to put Jewel on the level with XS/Omnia/Hak simply because those venues are just another level. Also, Jewel is smaller. Yeah, big names on the lineup - but Light gets some big names too, and certainly bigger ones when it first opened. I think we have to wait to see how Jewel shakes out before we put it up there - and I think a lot of us are also hoping it settles into the second tier. Second tier clubs end up being the ones most of us can afford tables at on Fridays/Saturdays, so it's nice to have a good selection of those.Next Trip: October 28-31, 2016
