I'm still not sure how a club can be "new" "different" "exciting" . I'm not in that customer service industry so I don't know what can and can't be provided.
Fundamentally, what are club goers looking for? Good looking crowd, good energy, ability to talk and connect with people.
In what ways can you create that and draw in the good looking people (ie people who are "popular and want to be at the best") in ways not already done in the XS club model?
I don't think visuals, whether they are different/exciting/etc, can be the main difference. You would have to drastically change the customer experience on a fundamental level in order to create the same draw without the big name dj type setup.
The new clubs don't want to compete with the larger clubs in the same way that everyone does (ie best dj, most exclusive, pricing, feeling like the best club, etc).
They need to compete on a completely different level. CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE.
How could a club drastically change the way people interact at the club and make people think this is the "best" club for that type of experience. (not competing with other clubs on their playing field)
What if they did something to create/force customer interaction. Maybe go old school in a sense of when people used to go to parties, there would be games that forced you to interact with the other people at the party. You could choose how much you wanted to participate, but in the end, it gave people a reason to connect with one another.
With social media/internet access/apps, there has got to be a way to create something like that. maybe every night you can log into their app and there are games that you can play that force you to interact with people. Maybe do bottle giveaways for teams that complete certain "challenges". New ideas.
Just thinking outside the box. Something like that would be innovative. what is not innovative is putting dancers on platforms and having fireworks. that has all been done before. We, as customers, are looking for something different.
INTRIGUE US!

With xs being one of the top 2 clubs in vegas, the other clubs are going to look lesser, that doest mean tryst and surrender arent good venues or options, its just when you have 3 differnt options under 1 company, there deffently going to be a periceved pecking order of which club is better, thats why i think intrigue arent going after big name djs, as it would be stupid to compete against top nighlife businees,Originally posted by ponch62 View Post
Many times leaving XS we would walk over to the Wynn from Encore to catch a cab on that side, as the cab lines were usually shorter. Many times standing in the cab line I wondered where the crowd that was leaving Tryst fit into the Wynn model. I think when word made it back to Wynn that Tryst was perceived as a "budget" club, he said "shut it down".
This is not to say many of us did not have some good times there, just overall the demographic at Tryst was typically quite different than XS.

prob due to it be a lesser club and offering bottle deals, doesnt really fit with the wynn model, tryst was one of the best places for deals

You mean a lackluster Thursday, and a much more well received Friday? I haven't personally read any specific complaints about Friday, and why would there be with Grandtheft DJing and celebrities everywhere?Originally posted by avseg View PostSo why bother with Thursday at all then? And why would they not push the VIP/industry invites for Thursday back to Friday? Given what actually happened, what you're saying makes no sense.
Like I'm just saying I was watching their social media accounts closely and there was a defined shift in which day was more important. Early marketing was all about 4/28, it was on all the posters and ads, and then around 4/19 they changed their Wynn Social schedule from just 4/29 Intrigue Fridays to 4/29 Grand Opening, and then all posters and marketing material posted after that highlighted Grand Opening 4/29.
I assume what happened is someone came to their senses and decided Thursday isn't a great night for the opening of a new club so they pivoted to it being more of a soft opening trial run, I'm not saying any of this is a good sign, or reasonable, I'm just saying it seems pretty clear that by around 10 days out Thursday wasn't the priority for whatever reason.

All the advertising changed from Intrigue Coming April 28th to Intrigue Grand Opening April 29th. Someone in the marketing department or above decided Thursday was not a priority in the slightest and put the big push with celebrity invites to Friday.

reports online that Rihanna stopped by after her concert and was with Leo in the "vip room"

Seems like what they are aiming for- a nightclub with a "vip" room with no cameras where high profile people can be at a nightclub but not photographed
maybe similar Nice Guy restaurant in la

The Grand Opening also had Grandtheft as the main DJ, not someone I would call no-name at all, but I assume that isn't the caliber of DJ they'll have on a non-Grand Opening Friday night.
That's one thing that I feel Wynn has completely missed an opportunity with. I used to love going to The Palms and switching between Rain, Moon, and Ghostbar, all with one stamp. If they sold a nightly $50-100 all access wristband with entry to XS, Intrigue, and Surrender with an expedited entry line for each they'd have something no other property could compete with. That would have given Intrigue as an option for people who tire of the packed dance floor at XS halfway through the night, and allow them to get away with a cheaper DJ without people thinking what did I just spend $45 on.Originally posted by ponch62 View PostI did however think it was interesting that they promoted Kate Hudson as one of their big grand opening celebrity attendees, but later that night there was a tweet with her in a pic in the booth with Dillon Francis at EBC at Night. Seems like she felt the need to switch clubs at some point.

Ya, I am not closing the book on the place yet, Wynn does not have a long history of failed ventures. Definitely seems like some mistakes have been made early on, but its been one weekend.

So judging Thursday as what the entire club is going to be seems like a mistake, although I don't necessarily think judging how it went Friday is much of a better plan. Ultimately it will take take a few weeks of normal operations to see what they are wanting to do with the place.Originally posted by avseg View PostYou should have gone Thursday. The crowd was not exclusive, not hotter, and definitely not less bachelor party type (that's why I was particularly amused by the suggestion that some press and industry insiders didn't get invites, because they were not at all exclusive with who they let in). More damning is that the mood they set, especially with staff outfits and gogo dancers, was not exclusive at all. Maybe they can change the exclusivity feel on revenue nights, but as I mentioned previously, they also didn't show us anything that could possibly draw a more exclusive crowd that will spend. I certainly won't.
Right now with no-name DJs, high prices, and nothing particularly unique going on I understand the complaints. If that's the long term plan I have no idea what market they think they are going to get, but it will definitely be exclusive in that no one will want to go.

Will be interesting to see how it plays out...that's just what I've been told they're going for. Time will tell...

No no no, the hype was not that it would compete with Omnia/XS - in fact it was the exact opposite, namely that it would draw a different crowd and have a different experience. Seriously, go read the press release and marketing mats - Intrigue was put forth as a conceptually new and different, alternative nightclub experience. If this place was supposed to be Tryst with new furniture, I wouldn't be complaining about it. Of course, this means you'll be OK with it when you go next Saturday, and I'm glad about that.Originally posted by Hurricane View PostIt sounds like people who believed the hype that it would compete with Omnia/XS/Hakk are going to be disappointed....

Hotter crowd and less bachelor party groups. Quality over volume.
