  • Intrigue - Anyone doing Recon this weekend?

Getting a table there next Saturday night. Going to lock down table location with Bobby on Monday probbly. Anyone going there tonight or tomorrow who can report back on the new layout? Dance Floor table is laughingly outside our budget, and for some reason I didn't get an invite to the inner sanctum, so I'm choosing between Patio, Side DF, Upper 3rd and Lower 3rd. Group is all guys (bachelor party). I'm sure Bobby will give it to me straight but would love to hear a customer's perspective. I never minded being on the patio at Tryst so unless I get some first hand info that says to spring for the additional $$ to move inside, that's probably what we'll choose.

Pretty sure a group of members is going tonight or tomorrow night. Will let you know if they report back.
Like all great travelers, I've seen more than I remember, and remember more than I have seen.

      lots of pictures online

There's a membership only room for those that spend $20K in one night: allowing you to have your own locker to hold belongings, mingle with other members, and drink from behind a window u can see out to the Dancefloor but club patrons cannot see into. Also, no cell phone/social media are allowed in the room so no one else can see what it looks like.

Already, Intrigue seems aptly named, as buzz in the community has focused on the nonspecific. Such as, what is happening in this place?

I went to the soft opening last night and left after 30 mins. Even independently of it being one of the worst soft openings I've been to, Intrigue is literally Tryst with new furniture. Not worth it.

What was so bad? It definitely looked like Tryst with a new "coat of paint", but it looked like a decent upgrade in the effects department. What they did with the water feature and the chandelier seemed impressive from photos.

From what I could tell from Instagram and Twitter they held back a bit. They've talked about pyrotechnics and I didn't see any in any photos so that leads me to believe they saved some of what the club will be for tonight.

They might have held back, but why? They had a lot of locals and industry folks in last night. That's a lot of buzz and word of mouth to leave underwhelmed.

Yikes, seems some people liked it even less than I did: http://pacevegas.com/2016/04/intrigu...pr-test-badly/

The problem is that Intrigue was marketed as a new concept - a different type of club - an alternative nightlife experience. But it's Tryst with new furniture. There was nothing that was presented to me last night that was conceptually new, different, or alternative.

No question I'll await further reviews. I'm just pretty disappointed b/c they hyped this place up a lot; I especially liked in some of their original press how they said they would continually change/evolve the experience so that even visits a month apart would feel different - but after last night, I'm quite hesitant to believe they can accomplish that.

Wow. That linked review is one of the worst I have ever seen. Might be bringing in name DJs before long just for damage control!

I had a feeling this was a flop in the making. I thought the same thing when I saw the photos last night from people posting from inside. I was like, how is this different from Tryst??? lol

I plan on going myself in a couple weeks. I don't expect an XS or Hak-esq experience though. Which I'm actually looking forward to. I will definitely provide a detailed report though.

To be fair that's a clickbait blog, and I can't speak for any external PR failures (we all got invites, obviously), but it provided some quotes and it's not like there was much disagreement among the people I went with.

Well, that's the big problem from the get-go, right? If you've ever been to Tryst, you're going to walk into this place and be like, "oh, it's Tryst". Just like when Light became Bank and I walked in and I asked myself where all that renovation money went since it was all just new furniture. At least Bank didn't try to market itself as conceptually new, different, and alternative.

Anyway, did anyone go last night? Did they do anything different?

From what it looks like online they rolled out a bunch of celebs on a red carpet and had a surprise appearance by Ne-Yo. On their Snapchat that's pretty much all they showed, didn't show really any of the supposed production upgrades.

I still haven't seen any pyrotechnics in any of the photos. Anyone there Saturday see those? When I was talking about holding back I meant that they marketed the opening as the 28th, until last week when they pivoted to marketing the Grand Opening on the 29th. It became clear that the 29th was the true opening in their opinion, hence all the celebrities, I just figured they'd show off their entire effects package then, but perhaps the pyro portion wasn't ready in time or they still want to save something special for the future.

There no reason to save anything. That's the issue. I mean even the waitress uniforms are like someone's idea of what classy is supposed to be, when then just look frumpy.

It sounds like people who believed the hype that it would compete with Omnia/XS/Hakk are going to be disappointed, but from everything I've seen and read I suspect that those who (like me) imagined it being a refreshed version of Tryst will have their expectations met. Planning to do an outdoor table there next Saturday night. Will report back.
