  • Tao Thursdays - Is there a bad table in main room?

I got a great quote ($1k) for a table in the mainroom at Tao for this coming Thursday. However, what I'm wondering is if there are any bad locations in the main room?

Also, how exactly is table location determined there? Can I get a great spot with a good tip and still keep our quoted minimum or is my table location going to be determined solely off our minimum?

Mostly, I'm just scared that with a $1k minimum, I'm going to be stuck in a closet. It's been several years since I was at Tao and I barely remember the layout anyway. I didn't even realize the Opium room existed until reading further on this site.

Did they tell you what area your table would be in? There are less desirable tables at Tao.

No. Just got the quote for main room and texted back but haven't heard anything back yet. Since it's Sat night, I'm sure he's swamped right now.

Get there by 10:15, use Traer, tip decent, you'll be good.

              Thanks Guys.

Already on it Chuck - what do you suggest as far as tip amount? I'm quoted at $1k min for main room (with no further details). $300 host tip to try and get into moat?

I'd think you'd have to bump the min for a moat table.

If you get there early you may be able to get one of the tables labeled Moat 1, 2, or 3. I had Moat 2 with a $1200 min and $400 tip on a Thursday with Dirty South spinning last April. They're great tables just outside of the actual "Moat" area. Depending on the DJ that night you may be able to land one of those with $1000min/$300 tip and arrival by or before 10:30pm. He won't be able to promise a location, but a $300 tip and early arrival should get you a nice table.

Really, as long as you're not in the hallway or opium room you should be in good shape. Trust in Traer...he's a legend in these parts for good reason. It's up to you to get there on time though so he can help you out.
