  • Vegas with 5 lads & 5 girls LDW @ MGM.

    Hello all.

Heading over for my second trip (first was in winter as a couple).

we are all at the MGM, for a week, and I've searched for a definitive answer but cant find it.

We want to do all the usual pool parties, different days etc and all the half decent clubs but were not a bunch of people that'll like to sit at a table all night, having other people fetch our drinks or having hosts and what not. I dont mean that in a cruel sense, just that's not really are thing when we go to events & clubs.

Is it essential to contact a host, to get in places?

Can we just turn up, queue up for a bit and just have general admission, and do we go in couples? (lad & girl)

I dont think cabana's, daybeds or the likes would be needed over there, but is it still easy to get a drink from the bars at the pool parties?

We are not been tight with money, just doing things our own way.

Hope use understand ha, thanks anyway!

You don't have to link up with a host...especially since you have a 50/50 ratio. You could do GA no problem, but if you do decide on venues ahead of time then go ahead and purchase presale tickets for quicker entry...especially if there is a big name DJ spinning.

Bars will be busy, but not like it's impossible to get a drink. Drop you bartender and extra $20 when you buy your first round. They'll look to you quicker next time you come back.
Like all great travelers, I've seen more than I remember, and remember more than I have seen.

Get presales, especially if you're there over Labor Day Weekend.
EastCoast: "I will preach. Vegas is easy. So easy. Either be rich or good looking (or mooch off someone who is one of those). If you are neither, then sit back, let the rich and/or good looking people sort their shit out, and then take their scraps. Booking early is not going to get you ahead of the rich and/or good looking people. Sucks unless you are rich or good looking. But that's what makes Vegas so great. It is completely transparent."

Just curious, have you ever done bottle service in a city like Vegas? If not, my guess is you'll change your mind drastically if you give it a shot, particularly with 10 people.

And what do you base your opinion that daybeds, cabanas, etc... aren't the way to go at a pool party for a group of 10 people?

If you're not looking to save money, then help me understand why you would rather wait in line at a bar all day in the Vegas sun if you can afford to have someone taking care of you all day?

          Hi J-
LDW which is the weekend around the first Monday of September is one of the busiest weekends in vegas all year.
It is customarily viewed as the end of the summer vacation season.

There will be a lot of big name talent playing the clubs and pool parties. Who is playing where will be announced around 1-2 months out.

So while you can just line up and do general admission- expect big crowds.
If you for sure want to go to a certain event its worth buying tickets in advance- presales.

Amen, and the girls want to stand up the whole time? Have everyone spend the same amount at the bar and on cover charge, as the min on a table or cabana? The only reason would be that makes since is that a table is out of budget or not everyone wants to contribute, etc.. etc. GA on LDW is a nightmare everywhere decent.

Id wait and let the lines die down. Show up about 2hrs after the venues open, and you should walk right in.

Most people avoid tables, cabanas etc. because it doesn't fit within their budget. The fact that you are 10 people visiting vegas in one of the busiest weekends is the EXACT reason you need to make those reservations. On a "normal" weekend in las vegas you can probably just queue up but during LDW you can be in a line for up to an hour just to enter a club and pay $30-60 per person just to get in (pre-paid tickets) and $100 and up the day of. Then you have to spend 10-15 minutes at the bar trying to get a drink. I highly recommend you make a few reservations for the "essential" parties/nightclubs you want to attend and then try your luck with the rest.

                  Cheers for the replies everyone.

I'd certainly look at pre-sales for the main events, are we best looking around the middle of July for these for LDW?

And in answer to the cabana's, I'd much rather 'be in the mix' with everyone else, thats just me though I suppose. No way am I dissing cabana's, they look great, but not for me.

I've done Ibiza a few times, and the line ups are announced around 6-8 weeks away from the event itself, does this typically apply to Vegas aswell?

I can't wait, ice cold carona and a bit of techno!

                  Thanks again.

Daybeds are typically in the middle of the action, and trust me, you WILL want to have a home base for your group on LDW in Vegas.
