  • Bottle Service Credit Card Holds?

How common is it for VIP hosts to ask for credit card holds in order to guarantee your table reservation?

Has anyone run into any good/bad experiences with this?

    Guarantee is the keyword here.

Yeah, I get that, however, I'm guessing most groups do not lay down a CC for reservation. A lot can change when you're out there if you're with a larger group of people. People can bail, too hungover, change of venues. Nobody wants to risk a +$1,000 charge on their card, right? Just wondering if anyone knows how common it is to have most groups with a cc hold, b/c we're prob going to roll the dice on that.

If you book with an online VIP company they make you pay up front and you can't cancel last second. I don't feel there's any reason to pay up front with a CC hold...especially if you're only talking a $1k spend. Just stay in touch with your host and show up when they tell you to.
Like all great travelers, I've seen more than I remember, and remember more than I have seen.

The only time I was ever asked for a CC to hold a reservation was by the Palms, and that was three years ago. Not sure if they still do it or not.

Last year EBC did ask us to fill out a cc form to hold a few lilly pads... maybe it was because Calvin Harris was spinning but I think we would have been on the hook for 50% of the min if we didn't cancel at least 3 days prior to the event.

Yeah, only the Palms (booked a table at Moon) required me to fax in my credit card info and a release form. As far as I remember, I wasn't charged for anything until I got to the club. There was a cancellation fee if I didn't make it out but that was it.

OP, if you're the type who does spur of the moment type of things, I wouldn't book it with your CC.

Yeah, that's kind of what I thought too. However, the VIP host name/# I got off this site. I won't say the name of the club or the host, but I was a little surprised. On the flip side, I've never booked anything thru him before, so I was thinking that was maybe the reason why I was being asked for a CC.

This generally is only for events like New Year's Eve, Memorial Day Weekend pool openings or any other night/day where the venue knows they'll sellout a month or so in advance and get hit with a ton of overbookings last minute.
What if you want to pay cash? Would they still do a hold on the CC, but then take it off after and you can pay cash?

Like one poster said before, the only place I had to put down a credit card before hand was at the Palms (Moon) about 2 years ago.

Depending on the event and time of year CC auths are occasionally used. Also for Independent companies like mine, we encourage are clients to pre pay so we can solidify their reservation, go to the club and organize the table, setup the bottles and make the experience far more flawless. You usually have a 24-48 hour window to cancel.
