  • When a Major DJ Spins at a Tier 1, How's The Club?

Just curious, for those who have been in a club like XS, Marquee, and Surrender when a major DJ spins (e.g. Tiesto), how's the club like? Does it feel more like a concert than it is enjoying the music, people watching, and if you grab bottle service, does it just become too much? Too much meaning, you can't really enjoy bottle service as it gets too chaotic?

I'm just trying to gauge my expectations during my bachelor party come March 22nd and wanted the clubs to have great music, but not crazy enough where it's like a concert. Hope that makes sense.

    Thanks!

If you have a table, then you have enough space and it doesn't feel as chaotic as if you were on the dancefloor. The night kinda goes through stages - first part (opening till 1.30) is mingling/people-watching then it becomes a bit crazy (1.30-3.30) then settles back down again in the last half hour (3.30-4.00) as people leave

    Big DJ = big crowd
EastCoast: "I will preach. Vegas is easy. So easy. Either be rich or good looking (or mooch off someone who is one of those). If you are neither, then sit back, let the rich and/or good looking people sort their shit out, and then take their scraps. Booking early is not going to get you ahead of the rich and/or good looking people. Sucks unless you are rich or good looking. But that's what makes Vegas so great. It is completely transparent."

Yea, sometimes the crowds can just get too crazy so a table with room is always nice

Thanks guys. Yeah, I was just thinking about how fun it was to just walk around the club (even XS) to just people watch. I am thinking it's not the case with when a major DJ spins? I am really considering Marquee over XS for the 23rd of March (Dash Berlin spins) even though I'm not the biggest fan of his music. I heard they have a hip.hop room that I can always head over to. Do you guys think it will be worth it with a table maybe in that hip.hop room?

You could get a table in the Boom Box room at a lower minimum. The main room at Marquee will be more fun, especially if you have a dancefloor or tier two table.

            I would keep in mind-
            1. Holiday weekend vs non holiday weekend
            2. what the talent competition is like between clubs

            For example Halloween 2012 had
            XS- deadmau5
            Tryst- avicii
            Surrender-steve angello
            Marquee- kaskade
it was a holiday weekend so every place is packed but with the talent spread people were spread also.

Also I remember one non holiday weekend calvin harris was the only really big edm name in town that night and surrender was the most packed I have ever seen any club in vegas- with all of encore beach full, all of surrender full and hundreds outside.

Basically you have GA people on the dance floor into the show, dance floor tables into the show and the far tables with not so great views getting traffic- people walking by.

I think for the weekend of March 22 23 your going to be ok- Because its ULTRA Music closing weekend in Miami. All of the big name talent is there also a lot of the big clubbing people at least about 165,000 of them.

That being said a lot might change on 4/26 when Light and Hakkasan open just because they are so big.

Would the boom box room be the hip.hop area? Decent size? I was concerned that b/c of Dash Berlin on Saturday, having a table out in the open would be chaos around the table. Thoughts?

              Thx for the response!

                Nice feedback, artedm!

I'm more concerned about the music selection. I kind of wished that they carried the type of music like DJ Five spins from Tao/Tryst at a major at times, without having a DJ. For some reason, I feel like avoiding the big concert type feel and wanted to be focused with my group and listen to a wide selection of music with people just having fun all around us. Definitely packed, but not feeling like sardines .

I truly want to have my last night go out with a bang for the bachelor party in a tier 1 venue, but the music is equally important for me.

What do you guys think? Should be fine at Marquee since I can walk around to the hip.hop room as well? Thanks!

If you're not a big fan of Dash Berlin then I wouldn't choose Marquee. You said the music is pretty important and this isn't just a regular night, it's a bachelor party.

All the clubs have resident djs playing music all night.
For example someone starts- the headline plays- then someone finishes- various by club.
I think the weekend your going will be a little slower because the big names are away.
But go with what you like best if you like DJ Five go to his show.
I agree if you're not a big fan of Dash Berlin then I wouldn't choose Marquee

                    To give you an idea-
3/23 Deniz Koyu is at XS and there are 250 views to buy tickets.
12/28 when Deniz Koyu played with Tiesto on New Years eve friday there were 31,000 views to buy tickets
                    http://xs.wantickets.com/Events/1162...Years-Weekend/
12/31 Avicii had 79,500 views to buy tickets.

Its your special night you should be 100% about what you like! If its DJ Five at Tao its DJ Five at Tao.

Don't do Marquee then - I think you'll feel like an afterthought in that room. I wouldn't spend that much cash for a bachelor party and then be in a "secondary" room.

Go to a place where you like the music. I would suggest 1OAK - contact Joey Orr who is raved about on these forums. I'm sure he will hook you up with an even better table (and maybe even deals?) than boom box room for the same cash. If you want Tao, same as what I've said about 1OAK - better table for the same or even less (contact Chris Traer)

I wouldn't count on the hip-hop room being a good alternative. It's packed like sardines in there cause the room is so small, even with bottles you won't have much room to move freely IMO.

I was at Marquee last Sept for Avicii. We had a table outside (mainly because we had 10 people and inside tables were $7-10k+) The main dance floor was completely packed and insane. Even getting into the club was ridiculous. So many people WITH tables were waiting a long time. You had to find your host to really make any progress.

I stayed outside by the pool the whole time because we had space. Since there were so many people, they kept infringing on our space. $100 to the bouncer made sure I had a clear area the entire night.

As others mentioned, I would go where you like the music. I went to 1OAK the night before Avicii and it was their House DJ playing top 40 and we (group of 20's-30's) had a blast. 1OAK was also cheaper for the best location.

Thanks guys. All very good points. I think it's more about the company I will be with so I think I'm going to scratch Marquee and Deniz at XS seems like a better alternative at this point. Possibly 1OAK since we are going to Tao on Friday night and my fiance's party is probably going to Tryst (so can't do that either, haha).

                            Thanks fellas!
