  • Wife's 40th Birthday, Help me make it Kick a$$!

Hello all, It's been a while since I posted....a looong while. I've been really busy with with work and my wife is in the middle of changing careers. We haven't been to Vegas since two summers ago. Anyhoo, my wife's 40th birthday is coming up and I want to make it unforgettable. This trip is going to be a surprise for her. We are going to be in town the weekend of March 15th through 18th. She is a big Maroon5 fan and we are going to their concert Sat./16th at Mandalay Bay. The concert starts at 8pm, so hopefully it doesn't go past 11 because I want to get a table somewhere afterword. We went to Hyde on a non club night last trip just to check it out and she really liked it. Is Hyde still one of the preferred places on a Saturday? So far it's just me and her, but I'm working on getting some of her friends to come out to Vegas and meet us at the club after the concert. At the least it would just be me and her getting a table, and at the most around 6-8. It would be all couples. I need some help with suggestions as to what clubs are good right now, but won't bankrupt me like XS. I will be footing the bill by myself even if friends show up. Chuck, if your out there...HELP. I believe I remember reading about either your or your wife's birthday and it sounded awesome without breaking the bank. I also think I remember extending an invite to stop by our table next time we are in town; so if you are going to be there at the same time, let me know. Thanks

Crickets....anybody? Did I offend someone or use bad etiquette? Is my plan really that bad? Should I forget about trying to get from a concert to a place for a table because it will probably be late( possibly after 11 on a Sat)? Maybe do a table on Friday after getting into town. Please, some one throw out some suggestions for Fri , Sat, Sun keeping the concert on the schedule for Sat. I just want my wife to have a great time.

Hyde is a good choice on Sat but won't be cheap. She only turns 40 once. Go all out and spend a little extra if needed to make it a trip she'll never forget.

1 OAK is another good choice and you can get a better deal there on a Friday than you can on a Friday.

The Bank is a good choice on Sunday if you like open format music. XS if you like EDM and it will be less expensive on a Sunday than on Saturday.

Mix in some cool dinner spots like STK, Stack, Fix, Yellowtail, etc...

Thank you. I'm definitely going to hit some nice dinner spots before heading out each night. My wife loves shushi(that's a big understatement). Is Yellowtail the spot for that or do you suggest something else?

Also, is Anthony still the Host for Hyde? Haven't seen him on here. I need a host/contact info for Hyde. No one is listed on the Host contact page.

Anthony is still a great host @ Hyde. You can find other host details here: http://forums.jackcolton.com/showthr...ion-Nightclubs

If you're looking for a good dinner spot before the show @ Mandalay Bay you may want to check out Mix. Solid menu and a great view.

Yes, Anthony can still take care of you. Joey Orr as well for 1 OAK.

Yellowtail would be a good sushi choice especially the night you're going to Hyde since both are in Bellagio. If the weather's nice request a table on the patio overlooking the fountains.

Hey KEVIN....here's what I did for my wife's 30th bday last year....it was a blast

Dinner at Mon Ami Gabi on the patio = $400 for 6 people
*We got there an hour early to wait for a patio table, in April it was worth it for sure
              Escalade Limo (3hr Charter) = $350
*our dinner ran a little long, so the limo had to wait for us, 3hr is the minimum but worked perfectly
Bottle service at Tao = $2,000 (all in)

This was a Thursday night...but you can do something similar at 1OAK or Hyde on Saturday. Just book the table
for 4 and put 2 on the guest list. Bottle prices are a little higher at Hyde than 1OAK. Both would be a great time.

Edit: Obviously if it's only two of you going from the concert to the club then an Escalade limo is way overkill. If you don't want to do a charter you can do a point to point and save some money.
Like all great travelers, I've seen more than I remember, and remember more than I have seen.

Thank you very much for the feedback. So far 2 friends committed, looks like its going to come together.

I am concerned about getting to the club I choose at 11 or maybe after on Sat due to a concert. How much leeway could I get on a Saturday night to show up that late, willing to tip a little more to ensure a table.

Her friends will not be attending the concert with us, I could have them show up a little earlier than us to get a decent spot. I just don't want them to have to much time to kill to many bottles before we get there.

                Any thoughts on this.

This is a good question for your host as the answer may vary depending on demand for that night, but you could prepay for the table, and pre-arrange a tip for your host....that way it's all handled and they don't have to worry about you not showing.

That's a good point Chuck. I didn't think about that.

Already got in touch with Anthony about Hyde and he said late arrival should not be a problem for that weekend. I still might follow your suggestion though to avoid any hassles.

I might have hit a little snag though. Hyde was choice number 1 for the bigger spend night because my wife likes it, but one of the couples might have to do a turn and burn trip. They would have to leave Saturday to head back leaving only Friday night that the group of 6 would be together.

If Friday was my bigger spend(nicer way to say budget) night instead of Saturday, What would be the place to go that would put me in the same price range as a Saturday at Hyde. It doesn't have to be a prime table, but something with a decent view of the dance floor and not the back 40.

Some have said 1Oak for Friday is a good time. I just haven't studied the boards enough after a hiatus to make a good choice without input.

Dinner and a concert in Vegas, followed by bottle service at a club with an amazing view of the fountains. Sounds like a pretty Kick A$$ plan to me. I'll be celebrating my birthday there the following day. Muse is playing at that same venue at Mandalay so I'm pretty excited about that.

Can't go wrong with Maroon 5, they put on a great show.

Ouch, just saw that Rob Kardashian is having his Bday party at 1Oak the Friday we will be in town.

Might have to rethink that choice if Friday ends up being the bigger spend night. Will it affect the crowd in a negative way( not as good) or will it draw a larger crowd and make it sardin city?
