The Hakkasan/Light Affect

How do you guys believe the opening of these two Major clubs will affect the landscape of all the current Tier 1 clubs (XS, Marquee, Surrender, Tao) in terms of pricing (table mins., entry) and overall feel of those clubs?

Will this dilute the industry to the point there will be a lot more "average" looking crowds in Tier 1's?

Personally, I'm hoping this forces the clubs to bring down the mins from their sometimes outrageous highs and bring a little power back to the customers as all the clubs will be fighting to have a bigger slice of the pie...

I'm also thinking Surrender and Tao will be bumped to Tier 2 status...

At this point Tao is it's own tier since so much of their business isn't based on EDM. Will the mins come down at XS and Marquee, maybe. However, given the investment that went into Light and especially Hakkasan, don't expect a huge drop in table mins any time soon. Since, I've been going out at home more lately, I can tell you that table mins in San Diego aren't that far behind Vegas, especially at the top spots. I wouldn't expect 3k dance floor tables at Tier 1's at all.

I could definitely see mins coming down for both XS and Marquee as they've been booking more and more "tier-2" DJ's for this coming year...Hakkasan/Light would of course still be up there with the newness factor as well as them snatching up the "superstar" DJ's.

Looking forward to seeing how the scene works out with 4 super clubs open on the same night...

I look it at this way though, prices went up because of exclusive residencies of big name DJ's and the high demand for tables that are on somewhat short supply. You add in 2 additional mega clubs, sign cheaper up and coming DJ's, and with the potential over-saturation of the market have a recipe for lower pricing at both Marquee and XS...

Well that's my reasoning...or probably just my far fetched dreams of how these future trips will be easier on the wallet hah!

Acts bottles prices are higher and it's not even Teir 1 to most. IMO XS and Marquees prices/mins will stay the same. Light and Hak will be higher depending on how they do. Right now everyone seems to be assuming Light and Hak will be equal or greater than XS and Marquee. I'm assuming the opposite based on light group and amg history. Both are certainly capable of scoring big though. Only time will tell. I give the edge to AMG though.

Totally agree. Would rather go to a Tier 2 sometimes that you are able to move around than a Tier 1 that oversells

So now that we're about to have a full weekend under our belts with Hakk's opening weekend come and gone...

Was anybody @ XS/Marquee/Surender over the weekend? How was the crowd? Tables mostly all booked?

Here's the word on the streets and what I actually saw.. The mins at Hakk went down, haha! Let's just say, they weren't getting anywhere near what was posted for the locations, from my understanding..

Here's how it affected the T2's on a regular Thursday...
Thursday - 0 effect on Tryst, actually was busier than the week before, I had clients the last two thursdays and this Thursday had better crowd and more girls
- Haze, no effect on GA, mins were lower on tables. Room got sat, but lower mins got better spots.
- Tao, didn't make it, did anyone go?

Fri/Sat
Was at XS both nights, 0 effect from what I saw. I had a 4k and a 6k there, both got expected locations, Avicii wsa there so that's to be expected. Didn't make it to Marquee.
- Haze Saturday- 0 affect, did have Sean Paul performing so Top 40/hip hop crowd was in affect, mins were as expected. Any other T2 reports?

Did anyone go to XS, Sunday? Hakk wasn't fully sat at all main room at all, I left 1am ish.. , upstairs mostly industry that left around 1230-1am. Went to Body around 130am, same crowd and started getting busier closer to 230-3am.

looks as if anything so far Hakk would have to be the one that deviates back to median?

VERY interested to see how everything shakes out for the upcoming holiday/fight weekend.....
