  • Strict on time?

Jut a general question about clubs really. If I booked table service at a club, would 10pm be a good time, or would you suggest an earlier time?

Also, say I arranged with the host 10pm, but I went to a smaller bar beforehand for pre drinks and ended up digging that, would they be fussed if I didn't show 'till 11?

What would happen if I didn't show at all?

If you arranged with the host be there at 10pm if you cant be there until later just shoot the host a text and let him know you are still coming but running late. Please please please do not just ditch out on the table, every host will understand if you can't make it or decide not to go, just call them and let them know ahead of time.

Also realize if you have a low min and arranged to be there at 10pm at a tier 1 club you do run the risk of your table getting sold or getting a worse location then negotiated.

Cool, thanks, that's all I wanted to know really. Shooting a text over wont be a problem.

      Thanks,

10pm is about the earliest you would want to get there. After 11pm your location can start to get tampered with. At midnight, your table will probably be given to someone esle. Always keep in contact with the host, and defintely let them know if you decide your not coming, even if its 11pm. Its Vegas, shit happens, your host will understand, but at least give them a courtesy text so they can have the opportunity to sale it to someone else.

The early the better, but usually between 10 and 11.

I'd like to bring up some discussion points. I see it from both sides, but I think if I work it out with a host, I should be able to show up later and sit where we agreed. If I want to see the headline DJ who will prob show at 2am or later, shouldn't the money I'm paying for the table/bottle afford me the option of coming in late? I don't want to be there 4 hours early. I think 12am is definitely pushing it, but any time before that should be ok IMHO.

Also, if this is a give and take thing, shouldn't the host text me if he is selling or moving my table? If not, why should I text him if I can't make it? Understand that I think both should happen, but I don't appreciate feeling like I'm at the mercy of the host when I'm on vacation. If the host can sell my table without telling me and I cab it all the way to the other end of the strip just to find out, they possibly just shaved hours off of my vacation or tanked my night. If I don't show up by midnight, you sell my table to somebody else for probably more than I was going to give you.

I guess all I'm saying is that it should go both ways, but the customer comes out way worse if the host doesn't communicate well. Not trying to stir anything up, just would like to hear opinions.

Most host will shoot you a text to make sure your still coming if it starts to get late. But you have realize, people pull no shows all the time, and by 11pm the door is packed. Host arent just sitting around with there thumb up there ass waiting for one client to show up. There taking care of other clients that showed up. And Id be will to bet there are clients that keep texting OMW, and still dont show up.

As far as location, your agreed upon min will determine the GENERAL area of your table, but the later you get there, the more you risk getting the worse part of that area. Obviously, your tip can help with that too, thats why most of us give the host a heads up on the tip, so the host has some leverage to persuade the podium to keep a premium spot for that area locked up.

Good example would be a cabana at Marquee. You have a cabana locked up with your min, but which one can vary depending on arrival time/expressed tip. If everyone else who booked a cabana, showed before you and tipped well, you could end up in a cabana that wasnt really the one you would have prefered. Still got a cabana at midnight though.

I can def see both sides of that argument. But I think if you throw down that cash they
should text you if they are about to give away your table.

I think it "should" work both ways. BUT......if I'm on vacation and I'm looking to make things go smooth, I'm going to take a little initiative and give a heads up if we are running late or if we can't make it. Likewise, I'm also going to text my host when I'm pulling up so that I'm not waiting to get in. Communication is important, and in all honesty, when you can simply take 5 seconds to shoot a text message, then why wouldn't you do that? Just my 2 cents.....

OK I can understand the issue of working both ways... Realize this one little factor, YOU HAVE NOT PRE PAID FOR THAT SPOT. I'm not a 100% sure but if you arranged it with your host and had them talk to management and wired the money to the promotion group something can probably be arranged for you to show up whenever the hell you want.

But why unless you have a LOT of history with a host is he gonna just trust your word that you will show up and the next thing he knows you are passed out somewhere, held up at dinner, someone got sick, etc and you never show up meanwhile he passed up on selling the spot and lost money.

I know the hosts I deal with would definitely text me before selling off the table but thats because I am usually in contact with them from the second I arrive in Vegas and continue to stay in contact via text as the weekend progresses.

These are the two biggest issues to me, and I get that they shouldn't risk losing out on money for somebody they don't know or have any history with. I actually have a local club where you go to their website and pre pay for a spot. That payment serves as your minimum spend, they apply the cost to your tab and you either use it or lose it. That system has it's good and it's bad, but it works when that's probably the only thing you have planned for the night.

I don't think there's a perfect way to do it, but I've definitely had some hosts communicate better than others and it made for a much better experience. Guess those are the guys I need to try to come back to whether they remember me or not.

On a side note, thank the Vegas gods that this site exists. Where else can you get this kind of insight??? Nowhere I says.

Here's a story.. guy wants to come late and get a guaranteed table spot when he shows up late. I say, cool, you can pay for everything right now upfront if you want. The guy doesn't want to do it. Guy never shows. So the reason you can't have a guaranteed spot if you don't prepay for it is that people don't show up and flake all the time. But, even worse, they say they are on the way and never show. Even, worse, they show up late, tell you they don't want the table but can you just get them in, no tip.

Hosts should develop a blacklist for people like that.
EastCoast: "I will preach. Vegas is easy. So easy. Either be rich or good looking (or mooch off someone who is one of those). If you are neither, then sit back, let the rich and/or good looking people sort their shit out, and then take their scraps. Booking early is not going to get you ahead of the rich and/or good looking people. Sucks unless you are rich or good looking. But that's what makes Vegas so great. It is completely transparent."
