  • TRANSPORT > Getting a group around Vegas at Night

Curious for feedback on this. Did a quick search but nothing came up.

Does anyone have any suggestions/feedback on getting a group of 8 guys around the strip at night? If we're talking next door or a couple spots down, walking isnt the end of the world.. but bouncing from far north strip to, say, mandalay bay or MGM, or somesuch.

Obviously we could just pile into 2 cabs (3 in back, 1 in front) and chop the fare 4 ways. Not that big of a deal.

However I was wondering if there were any limo/van services that ran shuttles/transfers between hotels during the course of the night? If so, what did they charge compared to a standard cab fare? I'd assume if it's double or less it's a break even, assuming a capacity of 8+ right?

Thanks in advance for any feedback.

I'd suggest you either take cabs or limos - splitting the cost will be fine and cheap enough between that many people.

Even if there was a shuttle (and from memory there are some shuttles but they only work between certain casinos owned by the same group), you don't want to be standing around in a line, wasting time, waiting for the next shuttle to come past. Especially cos you could lose your pregame/buzz.

Edit: Also, take some time to plan your days/nights in advance. For instance, if at some point during your trip you wanted to eat at STK (Cosmo) and another night at N9NE (Palms); and during your trip party at Marquee (Cosmo) and Moon (Palms), then it makes sense to group them up. Eat at STK, then go to Marquee. Eat at N9NE then check out Moon.

Sounds simple enough, but if you just wing it day by day, you'll end up wasting time and cab money travelling up and down the strip.

Edit 2: Also, to save cab fare, make sure you're on the right side of LV Blvd so that the cab doesn't have to turn around.

EastCoast: "I will preach. Vegas is easy. So easy. Either be rich or good looking (or mooch off someone who is one of those). If you are neither, then sit back, let the rich and/or good looking people sort their shit out, and then take their scraps. Booking early is not going to get you ahead of the rich and/or good looking people. Sucks unless you are rich or good looking. But that's what makes Vegas so great. It is completely transparent."

I've done Presidential Limo a couple times....not a bad deal. You get the limo for an ~hour and it comes with a cheap bottle of bubbly and some water. You can bring more booze in so it's a great spot to pre-game. You can ask the driver to take creative routes to use up your hour. After fuel charge and tip you're looking at $100 - 110 (so $13 / each in your case) total. Obviously more than a cab but it's always fun to roll down the strip drinking some booze in a limo.

Thanks Ocam... I'm sorry if I wasn't clear. I didn't mean shuttles between hotels... but more looking for "for hire" van/party bus or limo that worked on a short window (ie half hour or so).

That said the Presidential deal is pretty solid. Could be a good way to finish out the pregaming while heading to the strip since a few of the guys are vegas virgins. Just bring an extra bottle or two aboard to last the hour and then time it so the limo lands at the desired starting point around an hour in. Price isn't bad. We are already planning on using them to get from the airport to the hotel..... makes sense to kick off the night in one too.

A little nervous about the 8 passengers as our group has some big (tall) guys though. Two 6'7" guys, and two that are 6'3"-6'4". Everyone is in pretty good shape though so no wide loads taking up two seats.

Might be a tight fit..especially after 20 -30 min. I think I had a group of eight last year but all the guys were under 6'2" and there were a few girls mixed in and there wasn't much room to stretch out.

Not sure about every hotel, but I've seen town cars/SUV's/Limos posted up outside of the Hard Rock waiting like cabs do. 7 of us took an Excursion to the M one year, and fit like 25 people in a stretch hummer another time. I think I've seen them outside of other hotels too.

Exactly just come down and talk to the valets and see if they have any limos available. Worst case is he says no and you take cabs. I think we asked once and there was one that would take us for $40, but it was just two of us and a cab was going to cost less than $20 so we went that route.

Y'all sound like a basketball team, you should get a tour bus and come off the bus looking like the Dream Team lol

From one end of the strip to another, a limo isn't a bad deal for $60 or 70 - I think that's what we paid

Most resorts have them. Usually get them for around 40 to 50. Remember the more limos you see around the cab lines, the less you should pay and never pay the first price you get quoted

Time is money. You never want to be waiting around so I think taking whatever is waiting for you outside is your best bet.
