Tipping after the 18% auto gratuity

Is there a rule of thumb for additional tipping after the 18% auto gratuity.???? I know its considered a part of the servers wages so it must be claimed. So if the auto tip works out to be $200 would another $50 be fair to make up for the 25% the IRS takes???

Yes that is fair. We always pay cash for a table so we usually give the difference. Ex) if its 640 bucks we will give 700 and she can keep difference

Don't feel obligated to tip over the auto grat. If you got great service, I'd think about an additional tip, but my boss doesn't give me extra to cover what taxes come out of my wages.
