The pregaming thread got me thinking about whether anyone plays drinking games before they go out. If so, what do you play?
Our group sometimes plays a brutal round of "4 kings".
What you need:
-Glasses/cups for every player
-a BIG cup (like a bucket)
-a deck of cards or random card generator (can be found online)
-booze (multiple types works best)
Rules: You shuffle a deck and then place it face down on the table. First player draws a card and "does" whatever the card is.
Players only refill their cup when it's empty, not during random intervals (seems obvious, but you need to stick with it otherwise things like the waterfall get extreme).
Every card has a particular meaning in the game, as follows:
Ace (Waterfall): The player who drew the card starts drinking their drinks, and then everybody else starts. When the person who drew the card stops drinking the person to their right can (but doesn't have to) stop drinking. When that person stops drinking the person to their right can (but doesn't have to) stop drinking. This goes on until the second to last person stops drinking.
Two (You): Person who draws the card can assign 1 drink to any player (each time I say drink, it's somewhere between a sip and a gulp - not down the whole beverage)
Three (Me): Person who draws the card drinks.
Four (Whores): Girls in the group drink.
Five (Never have I ever): Person who draws the card says a statement beginning with "Never have I ever", which is something they have not done (e.g. Never have I ever cheated on my partner). Whoever has done it, has to drink.
Six (Dicks): Guys in the group drink.
Seven (Toilet pass): Player who drew the card can go to the toilet (used at their discretion). This card can become important late in the game after you've had a few.
Eight (Date/Mate): Player who drew the card chooses another player who must also drink whenever the assigning player has to drink.
Nine (Bust a rhyme): Player who drew the nine says a phrase (e.g. "I'm getting hammered today"), then the players go around in the circle clockwise saying phrases that rhyme with the original (e.g. "and hoping to get a lay".. etc etc). No rhyming word can be said twice. The first player who can not come up with a phrase, uses a rhyming word someone else used, or whose rhyme doesn't work, must drink.
Ten (Categories): Person who drew the card chooses a category (e.g. bands, sports, US states) and the players go around clockwise in the circle saying something that falls within the category. The first person that can't think of one (within 5 seconds or so) has to drink.
Jack (Jack of thumbs): All players have to quickly put their thumb onto their chin (but do it silently, so you can catch out people not paying attention). Last player to do so drinks.
Queen (Questionmaster): The player who drew the card is the "Questionmaster". If the Questionmaster asks a question, and another player responds with anything other than "FUCK YOU", the other player has to drink. The Questionmaster loses his/her power when another queen is drawn (so there is a new questionmaster), or someone responds with "FUCK YOU". (note: it's best to be subtle as the questionmaster and wait some time so people forget. Also use sneaky questions like, "what was the last card?", "whose turn is it now?" etc)
King (Fill 'er up): The player who drew the king pours ALL of whatever is in their cup into the BIG cup/bucket. Second and third person to draw kings do the same. The person who draws the 4th king pours their drink in, then drinks the whole bucket. Ouch. (This typically ends up as a weird concoction of beer, vodka/redbull, scotch/coke, etc, depending on what each player has decided to drink during the game)
