Jumping in a little late on this....

Do you want to go to a club with a big name or would you rather go to a club a step down where you know you will get great service?
Depends on the crowd I'm with, but I've generally had just as much fun at a T2 club without some of the hassle. Great service always makes a huge difference. Bad service can be a big buzz kill.

Would you go to a club for a Dj or would you go to a club for a great party?
Again, depends....but unless it's an amazing DJ that I know won't be coming to Chicago then I'll choose a great party. I've dropped some decent money to see a specific dj and then ended up getting a less than desirable table location or getting pretty wasted by the time the DJ came out so it didn't matter who was spinning!

Does it matter where the hosts are that you like?
I only go to Vegas a couple times a year so not really...if I were going 4-5x it might. Most of the hosts I've worked with have been very professional and taken care of me (and I've tried to take care of them in return). I make decisions on where to go based on DJ / group preference / etc, not where certain hosts work.

And last would you rather spend 1500-2000 on a table at a club knowing you will be in the back or outside or spend 1500-2000 at a tier 2 club and be put on the dance floor in the middle of the madness?
Unless there is a DJ I'm dying to see (or hear) then I'll usually go with a T2 club. In the end I'd rather be in the middle of a "good" party than on the outskirts of a "great" party.

well long story short myself and management had a discussion and we know we are not going to compete on the EDM level with marquee, xs, hakkasan so why not steer the other way and throw some kick ass parties, top 40/commercial hip hop and excel in customer service. Palms is doing great things and changing for the better with new restaurants rooms center bar and new clubs hopefully soon but people wanna feel like they are being well taken care of wether they are spending 1000 dollars or 10,000 dollars. I can go to hakkasan or an xs/marquee but i like having the customers trip in my hand and making sure they have the best experience possible. And when you have people that do 8 clubs in 7 nights and blow it up and they are saying the party we threw was the best one that means alot as cheesy as it sounds. Thats what keeps a host going and business coming back. Instead of 10 ppl going to Tier 1 "x" nightclub and leaving having a good time but feeling not a bang for the buck or going to a tier 2 club spending the same and leave feeling like rockstars that 10 people now turned into 50 after they tell their friends and that turns into 200 etc. Vegas sometimes forgets customer service can make your club from ok to great or make a great club ok. My list

      1. Customer service or in my case where my friends are working
      2. the music as long as its good
      3. the energy is what makes or breaks a place
      4. the crowd appearance
      5. the dj doesnt matter if its dj joe schmo or kaskade to me

          hey chad
from your list, what places would you recommend on a monday night and a tuesday night for 6 guys?? ( probably coming in april and july)

BTW i totally agree with you..you could go one big night at top clubs but you would keep spending and comin back to the ones where you had the best bang for $$
It is like choosing between your mistresses :-)

Hey Chad. I'll be seeing you in a couple of weeks at GBDC but to answer your questions.

              1. I would rather go with great service. But usually the reason the top clubs are the top clubs is because there service is great.

              2. I would go to a club for a great party, DJ doesn't do much for me.

              3. I think going with a host you have worked with for a while does matter a bit, I guess it's a trust thing. But I wouldn't go out of my way to go to a new club where a host I have used before works just to go through that host.

              4. I would rather spend the money on a good table location, but saying that not a big fan of dance floor tables just because of how crazy crowded they get. Had a dance floor table once at Lavo and it wasn't much different then having a table somewhere else on the floor.

Chad, I think that's the right strategy for the Palms to employ. There actually seems to be quite a large contingent of people that don't want EDM when they party (as evidenced by a lot of people on this site).

If you look at the general Vegas market, people that want to go to XS/Marquee for the "name" won't go to the Palms. People that are hardcore EDM fans will chase whatever DJ is playing and would be lured by the big names that will be booked by XS/Marquee/Surrender/Light/Hakkasan.

By not trying to compete with the EDM clubs, I think you'll actually broaden your potential consumer base.

Plus, just look at Rehab as an example. Don't really book big name DJs, but it still holds up against EBC/MDC/WR - the reason? It's a great party.
EastCoast: "I will preach. Vegas is easy. So easy. Either be rich or good looking (or mooch off someone who is one of those). If you are neither, then sit back, let the rich and/or good looking people sort their shit out, and then take their scraps. Booking early is not going to get you ahead of the rich and/or good looking people. Sucks unless you are rich or good looking. But that's what makes Vegas so great. It is completely transparent."

Some thoughts from a different angle...

Been to vegas 3 times in the past but never did the bottle service / host thing. Currently planning a bachelor party and given the group (8 guys) I'm going that route for the first time for two main reasons: ease of planning and more confident in things going off without a hitch.

Since we're staying at Palms I've contacted Chad Noyes (been quite responsive thus far) and a couple other hosts at other venues while we feel our options out. Our decisions will be made based on who makes us feel the most comfortable with their abilty to make things go off without a hitch, and our perceived "Value" in the package they put together (not cheapest... just best overall package).

Per the questions... from my perspective:

Do you want to go to a club with a big name or would you rather go to a club a step down where you know you will get great service?
It's a sliding scale... I don't care about the name of the club. I care about the party and service. Often the top clubs will have the best party (From what I understand), but if I can get 1 tier lower (but still very good) crowd and vibe... and exceptional service... then that's my choice over being just a number with a lower limit table at a tier 1 club. Every time.

Would you go to a club for a Dj or would you go to a club for a great party?
I've followed top DJs back in the day when I was a club kid (15-20 years ago when EDM was just getting traction in the US) but nowadays it's less about the names and more about the service/party.

Does it matter where the hosts are that you like?
This is my first time using a host but I'm like a lot of people (I think) that I'm loyal to "my guys". If my experience this trip meets/exceeds my expectations, then that host will get first dibs on my business going forward and will get strong word of mouth from me as well.

And last would you rather spend 1500-2000 on a table at a club knowing you will be in the back or outside or spend 1500-2000 at a tier 2 club and be put on the dance floor in the middle of the madness?
I agree with the guy who said: "In the end I'd rather be in the middle of a "good" party than on the outskirts of a "great" party."

I hope that helps you guys out...

Reading stuff like this from you makes me infinitely more comfortable dealing with you on my upcoming trip.

Great attitude/approach and I think it will work well for you.

I would think most male list would revolve around whatever draws the most females. IMO, the majority of guys are willing to overlook service, cost, DJ, hassles at he door, ect. as long the ratio and quaility of women are there. Seems like the majority of women dont get BS, so I wonder how much of the BS experince really counts. I usually have great customer service at any of the clubs I go to regardless of Tier, so the only reason I would go to a lower Tier is price, BUT the quality of the people inside MUST still be there, or wouldnt go back. Ive been outside at XS and at a dance floor table. The service was equally great at both.

What exactly do you look for when planning your trip?
Big name DJ. I am really in to EDM so that usually dictates where I go.

Do you want to go to a club with a big name or would you rather go to a club a step down where you know you will get great service?
I have always been fortunate that I have had great service everywhere I go (limited table opportunities) but like I said before the DJ usually dictates where I go

Would you go to a club for a Dj or would you go to a club for a great party?
                        DJ.

Does it matter where the hosts are that you like?
Not as much as you would think. If I have a need at a particular venue I always have certain hosts that I would use.

Would you rather spend 1500-2000 on a table at a club knowing you will be in the back or outside or spend 1500-2000 at a tier 2 club and be put on the dance floor in the middle of the madness?
Depends on who I am going with. Many of my friends hate EDM so they would rather go to a tier 2 club. I can have a good time anywhere. We had a great time at LAX a few years back.

Thank You looking forward to meeting you all as well! There is some good hosts in this city who actually give a shit. Alot of them use this site which is good. Just find one that fits you and more then likely we all work together anyway. For example even if you use me for your entire trip thur-sun im linking u up with Joey Orr from 1oak Noah from Light Donnie from Tao group etc. So the good guys try and stay together. Just gotta pick the host or hosts that fit you best.

Do you expect any movement among hosts in the next few months. With new clubs opening soon (Hakkasan), do you thing we'll see many hosts changing clubs ?
