  • Vegas IV's

Has anyone tried or know anyone who has tried these for recovery? If so- How long does it take? Is it worth it (what is the cost?). Really considering this for my next trip in Sept. I am getting older. I can still give you a solid 6 and 2/3 innings. Hard to give u a complete game now though LOL. Just harder to recover. The fire still burns though.

I haven't done it in Vegas...but pop an Advil, drain the IV, and you should be good to go within 30 minutes.
It's instant re-hydration which is 90% of what causes your hangover.

Honestly though, it's easier to just drink a bottle of water after every two or three drinks. I did on my last trip and was good to go the entire time. When I failed to mix in water on the day we arrived I was punished with a hangover that started at like 6:00pm from drinking all day, not eating, and interrupting the flow of alcohol for about an hour and a half.

Drink, Drink, Water....repeat and you'll be fine.
Like all great travelers, I've seen more than I remember, and remember more than I have seen.

Apparently it doesnt work if youre still drunk.

Like Chuck said, hydration is key.

If desperate times call for desperate measures where youre left with the choice of either going out or spending the might in bed, line up the following on your coffee table:

      Water
      Pedialyte
High water fruits such as melons
Can of Chelada (or light beer)
      Red bull
      Jagger

Swig from each and finish off with a shot of jagger at the end of the gauntlet.

Once the liquids are done, youll be a new man.
      Things escalated quickly...

Water and pedialyte is all you need. Or water and gatorade. If you're having a killer headache then do ibuprofen with the water but don't do anything with acetometaphin/naproxen since they are heavily processed through your liver or something so they won't have the same effect.

Oh don't worry I'll drink it. But you better know that when I do, we about to get buck!

+1 to this... just keep a bunch of the packets in the room and/or try and premix some for when you come back too drunk to function, then all you have to do is drink the premade ones. I like mixing the packets with sprite, the bubbles always help calm my stomach.

I havent had a hangover in a couple years. Its just a matter of balancing hydration with water. You just need to let it go through your system and urinate it out throughout the night. Always have 3-4 water bottles on hand next the bed when you get back too. and Aspirin or Ibuprofen. This is not light drinking either. Some of these nights are 10+ drinks/shots.

If we're going out to eat after a Vegas club, I know I'm drinking at least 3 glasses while I'm there. Pop in aspirin or advil after eating or before going to sleep, drink another bottle of water and I wake up like a champ. With that much water, you'll be urinating it out a couple times in the night and you wake up feeling fine.

We would work this convention in Vegas and we're going out Saturday to Saturday, every single night. We'll set a 3am limit so we can sleep at least 4hrs. Work 8am to 5pm and drink/party for 7 nights straight. Cure to no hangover is hydration. This IV stuff is nice but totally unnecessary IMO.

Stay away from the red bull unless you absolutely need it...all the caffeine is just gonna dehydrate you

                water for the dehydration
                pedialyte or gatorade for electrolytes
                alcohol -

"hangovers are attributed to methanol metabolism.[6][7] Levels of methanol, present as a congener in alcohol, have been correlated with severity of hangover[8][9] and methanol metabolism to the highly toxic formate via formaldehyde[10] has a timecourse[clarification needed Meaning?] in keeping with the appearance of hangover symptoms.[11] As both ethanol and methanol are metabolised by alcohol dehydrogenase - and ethanol is a much better substrate for this enzyme - drinking more of the former then effectively prevents (or delays) the metabolism of the latter. As pure ethanol consumption has also been found to increase endogenous levels of methanol [12] presumably for this reason, this suggests that if “hair of the dog” works in this way it effects a temporary hiatus rather than a cure."

also avoid mixed drinks high in sugar or caffeine. I always feel less hungover after vodka tonics vs vodka red bulls

I've had nights of all Vodka Sprite, Vodka Redbull and Soco redbull. About 8-10 drinks total in a night. Never really had hangovers in Vegas. I suspect that when I feel a slight hangover/headache, even with hydrating, its because of the cheap Vodka at some clubs in LA vs Vegas. LOL.

you only need an IV if you're vomiting and can't keep fluids down by mouth

                    no tylenol!!!!

agree w/ chuck and not a vet's advice

i drank many glasses of water from MDC's free water jug couple of weekends ago, loved it!
