  • gratuity on comp bottles??

do you pay automatically gratuity on comp bottles or is it up to you or the host??

I haven't paid the auto grat on comped bottles. I just give the waitress cash for what would have been 20% on the total. Usually, the person who is comping me tells me how much to tip her.

I have heard conflicting stories on this. I would always count on paying it unless you hear different when the bill comes.

Well there's 2 types of comps (3 technically). If it's part of a Buy 1 Get 1, then you'll usually be charged tax (it'll be whatever the tax would be on the listed price the bottle would've cost) and tip on the "Free" bottle.

If it's a table where all your bottles are free and it's all yours, you'll simply be asked to tip the waitress however much ($20-$50 per bottle).

The 3rd possibility is if you're a group of girls joining a Promoter/Host table with free bottles and you've been asked to help with the tip. Generally $10 a person is good enough.

Obviously the last 2 options generally only apply to a hot group of girls on certain nights.

On a straight up comped bottle, most of them auto-grat now, which is usually $50 - $80.

I usually do $80 for the waitress and $20 to the busser for each bottle.

We did the math the other day and, very conservatively, the site has tipped waitresses and bussers well over $200,000 on comped bottles over the years. :-x

If your name is Jack Colton...only on days that end in Y
If you're a group of attractive females....fairly common
If you're a male JC member....not impossible, but not easy
If you're an average Joe...probably not

It will depend on the service given to me. Every service has it's rate. Also, it will depend on my mood. Having a cruise is something enjoyable, service gratuity is necessary.

My past experience is comp'd bottles get auto charged the tax/tip .... so it comes to like $96 or something for a comp'd bottle... from there add a host tip and/or security and runner tips.

I've only ever had comp'd bottles at The Bank though... not sure how other properties do things.
