  • Purchasing Tickets for DJ's at the Bigger Clubs

What's the deal with this? I typically go to Marquee, Tao, or Lavo when in Vegas as I know some people associated with those clubs. We either do bottle service or I do the hand shake to by-pass the line/cover routine so I've never bought tickets or really even waited in line.

This time however, three of us on Monday (myself, my wife, a friend) are interested in seeing Diplo spin at XS. I haven't been there before and don't know anyone working there. I considered just buying tickets through the web site but it's not that clear what a ticket does for you. I would only do that if it's essentially paying cover ahead of time and you get to by-pass the line.

Normally if I'm doing the hand shake, I'd give the guy $100 if it's just 2 or 3 of us and I've given $200 on a night where it was myself and 3 guys and a big name DJ was on the decks. So although I don't really want to pay cover, if we aren't doing bottle service what's the difference between paying $80 for tickets or slipping someone a $100 (besides maybe the line, which is why I'm asking about the tickets.)

I also considered just doing nothing ahead of time and showing up down there a little earlier. Are lines crazy on a Monday night? I assume if it was Skrillex or Tiesto or someone like that they would be but I'm not so sure for Diplo. Also, my wife is pretty good looking so is there any chance she'd have cover waived? I assume with XS the answer is no, but I don't know, she's had it waived plenty of times before at smaller places like Chateau.

Just looking for some advice is all. Thanks!

I've relied on contacts, handshake, walking straight up at the doorman, etc but in many cases its unsure on what you'll end up spending if zero or quite a bit to just get in.

Thats why if you are sure and dont want to deal with having to try to get in, find someone to grease, etc. I say just pay the presale IF you are sure you want to go to that specific club anyway. Usually the presales are $30 or $50. Its either you pay that upfront or end up paying the same amount or even alot more when you grease.

I'm not against greasing and working with a contact to get in. I'm down for that, but sometimes theres that unknown factor on what you end up paying. Youre greasing $100 to line pass 4 people but you end up paying cover anyways. I say get the Presale. Less hassle IMO.

BTW: this is for top clubs, Marquee, XS, Tao, 1OAK , Pure, Surrender, Tryst.

Its been awhile since I've paid to get in LAX, Gallery, Rain or Chateau. But the last 10 times I've been able to get in free to those spots. What I wrote above doesnt apply to these clubs. Its usually easy walking up the day off anyways with these clubs.

Thanks. Sounds like buying tix might be the way to go. It's $30 for guys & $20 for girls. $80 for 3 people is annoying, but sounds reasonable for a club like that (I've been seeing some steeper covers listed recently...$200 for Skrillex which is just dumb)

Is there a separate line or how does that part work?

There should be a seperate line for the presale tickets so just walk around the G/A area and you should find a pretty much empty line and a sign that says Wantickets.com presales. If you can't find it, just ask one of the guys in front and he'll direct you towards it.

Assuming a group of guys are buying presale tickets to get in , could there still be issues at the door because of the male/female ratio ?

Generally it shouldnt. If you're there before capacity, you're tickets are guaranteed for you to get in no matter what. Shouldnt be a big deal even if its a group of guys. If you feel there is some feeling like that at the door, just act like you're in groups of 3-4. But usually its a different line anyway and theyre moving that line faster than general admission line.

Till when is it possible to purchase tickets for Marquee. I know I wanna go there but I can't tell how many of my friends will be joining. So is it still possible to purchase tickets online the same day of the event?

Marquee has a small box office located on the first floor towards the front of the casino. You can actually purchase general admission tickets there in the morning. I believe I was told they stop selling them though at 5 pm. It's the same office where you would pick up pre-sales. You enter the same separate line as pre-sales with these tickets.

I believe Marquee for whatever reason stops online presales 24 hours before the event starts versus ending the night of the event like most venues do.

Sounds right. After a certain point, you'll have to either goto the Box Office and try to buy tickets or get stuck with general entry/guestlist/tables.
