*Basically leather shoes, nice denim, and a collared shirt is the "typical". If you go nicer...all good, more casual and you're gambling.
For pools...swim shorts are required, banana hammocks will get you executed immediately without question at the door so don't even try it, no "wife-beaters" or sports team apparel, and don't ruin your Nikes at the pool. High top Nikes to a pool party? Only if I can wear my bathing suit to a basketball game (which I could probably do, but I wouldn't "fit the part" very well).
No wife beaters? No jerseys? Why not? I'll tell you why. Because that type of attire is usually associated with "gangs". And rather than the club having to make a judgement call on whether you look like a gangbanger or not, they just say "No tank tops and no jerseys".Comment

Exactly, couldn't have said it better myself. No need to have the possibility of trouble breaking out if they don't need to. A buddy of mine tried to get into Tao Beach last summer with an old school Jordan UNC jersey and he was told to change immediately at the podium before even taking the elevator up. The reality is you'll have shoes on for about 1 minute total. Walking in the pool and leaving at the end of the day. You're not going to stand around a pool all day with high tops on in 100 degree weather. Just wear flip flops.Comment

Wearing a jersey or wife beater in 100 degree heat is for "gang members", how white are you? what do you wear a mock turtle neck?
Serious question though, then what is the appropriate attire to walk into a pool party? Sandals, bathing suit, tshirt? I didn't think something sleeveless would be a big dealComment

Haha. That's great. I actually prefer to wear a basketball jersey to pools, but I'd rather not have to worry about the doorguy making a decision on whether I can get in or not. At Marquee you will for sure have a problem with it.
